Fabulous location and an awesome experience
Pros:

Loved the location. Restored canning factory transformed into a luxury hotel. The bartender Jeff is so friendly and gave us superb advice about what to see and what places were t worth the trouble. We were so glad we followed his advice to visit the San Francisco Science Academy. Amazing experience. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Housekeeping came every day. Loved it.

We booked this hotel to celebrate our child’s 3rd birthday. I noted this in the special request section, and while I appreciated the small birthday treat left in the room, that was the only highlight. The hotel was visually beautiful and in a great location, I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone traveling with young kids.

Cons:

The bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed, soaking the floor or letting in cold air—it makes you wonder why the room was even offered without fixing it first.

This hotel, is completely unsuitable for families with young children. Our room had a connecting door and paper-thin walls. We could hear full conversations next door. Within minutes of returning to our room around 9:30pm, our toddler was giggling—and the adjacent-door neighbor knocked to ask us to keep it down. We complied. At 4:30am, their kids were loud enough to wake me, though the mom did tell them to quiet down.

At 7:30am, the hotel phone rang like an alarm and woke our entire family. It was the manager, calling to inform us of a noise complaint from our room—while we were sleeping. I told him we’d been asleep. He asked if I’d heard anything. I hadn’t. He apologized and hung up. Later, I was told the complaint came from the floor below and they just called two rooms above. No investigation. No common sense. Just a blind accusation at 7:30 in the morning. When you’re paying $500 a night, being jolted awake and treated like a problem instead of a guest is the exact opposite of “hospitality.”

Staff kept hiding behind the line, “We take all noise complaints seriously,” but not once did anyone take responsibility for how sloppily it was handled. No one verified the source before calling at 7:30am. They treated it like a box to check. That’s not guest service—it’s negligence.

When I asked if the hotel was actually set up for families with young kids, they insisted it was—but after explaining everything that happened, all they offered was, “Sorry we woke you.” That was it.

If my child had been a crying infant, would they have called at 2am? You’re expected to keep your child silent. It’s been 48 hours since our stay and over 24 since submitting an internal review—still no message, no follow-up, no accountability. I wouldn’t stay here again, and if you’re traveling with little kids, don’t even consider it.

Efficient check-in including parking our rental car.
The hotel is beautiful and very centrally located.

Cons:

Only one hook and one ring in the bathroom for towels. More hooks or towel racks are needed.

Could and should have been a lot better for the price we paid.

Cons:

The kitchen staff for room service was in responsive, kept answering the phone and then hanging up. Our order tha was supposed to take 20, never came. We reordered over an hour later, only to receive the wrong food. Had to go down to the front desk, because again, the won’t answer their phone. Then the restaurant manager was full of attitude and was short when the front desk came to ask questions as to what happened.

While I was dealing with that, my children were getting dressed in our room. A room in which we had late check out for, and this wasn’t even regular check out time as we speak of anyway. A member of the cleaning staff, who had just asked me if there were people in the room, to which I replied “yes, my family is ok there and we have late check out. She walks right into the room once I had walked away. My youngest two children getting dressed for the day and she didn’t even hesitate to walk in.

This was literally one of our favorite hotels to stay at. Such a complete let down.
