I booked a double room, but they turned out to have two single beds pushed together for me to sleep in. The price I paid didn't meet my expectations for the environment.

I can truly say that my stay at Amari Colombo for 5 nights was easily the best hotel stay I have had in my travels in 2026 by far. A new hotel conveniently located close to the beach and the city, within access to a range of restaurants in the vicinity. It is a new hotel, spotlessly clean, comfortable.
My request for a room on a high floor was answered with a room on the highest residential floor (23) - with a good view of the city scape and the Lotus Tower. The hotel itself has a fabulous roof top bar with spectacular views. The bed was very comfortable, a good space for working, and a decent bathroom with a rain shower. Overall, the room was spacious, smelled pleasantly of lemon grass, and was generously supplied with bottled water for free.
I spent a fair bit of time in my room working, so coffee/tea was a priority for me. I am not a fan of the creamer provided but the bar fridge and Uber Eats delivery enabled me to get fresh milk on demand :-)
The best part of my stay was the extraordinarily helpful and responsive staff from the concierge, reception to room service. Perhaps as I was staying for 5 days, I did get calls on two occasions asking about how my stay was going. If I was unable to reach the reception, there would be an immediate call back to ask what I needed. The staff were genuinely friendly and warm, and Amari must be proud of their workforce.
The safe in Room 2302 was not working.
The air conditioning is centrally controlled (which is fine) but the thermostat in the room did little to control the room's temperature which could get very cold. My solution was to turn off the A/C, which worked well enough for me.
The hot water was a hit and miss, and on my arrival I reported this. To their credit, the front desk sent a maintenance person at 12.30 am to get this fixed. I thought that the issue was a demand/supply problem, but was told that I needed to run the water for a while to get the hot water going. This is a shame because of the water that is wasted and it sometimes would take several long minutes to get the hot water running.

Absolutely everything! This hotel had it all! Rooms were beautiful, breakfast was amazing and the common areas were relaxing. And the staff, oh my god - all of the staff is wonderful, they’re all so attentive and friendly. I will definitely stay here if I visit Colombo again.
