Fantastic pub, fab food and beer, breakfast not served until 08.30, so missed out (but charged!)
Pros:

Brilliant pub, with welcoming staff. Excellent food (the lamb and mint pie was to die for), all washed down with a couple of pints of excellent locally brewed beer. Room comfy and nice view of the duck pond from the window.

Cons:

I was disappointed that even though I booked bed and breakfast, I had a (fairly) early start and needed to leave by 7.45, but was informed that breakfast service didn't start until 08.30! Maybe this is acceptable at the weekend, but on a week day? I was given some excuse that the landlady was working late and had to cater for dinners in the restaurant until late (as far as I could see, I was the only dinner and was finished and up to my room by 20.00). I also noticed, when scanning my receipt for our accountancy software), that I had been charged £12 for a breakfast that I had just been told was not going to happen. So I went off to my meeting and first substantial food was the sandwich lunch at 13.00. Not ideal.

Stay long enough to try the food!
Pros:

Only stayed for one night - but wished it was for longer. Really friendly people, lovely room with a view of the village pond and a fantastic breakfast.

Wonderful stay 5*
Pros:

The whole place was beautiful inside and out so picturesque. So clean and comfortable. The staff at the star inn are amazing nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Terrible breakfast
Pros:

Nice room, nice bathroom, pleasant young staff.

Cons:

Chef not in until 10am to serve breakfast. If you want it earlier, the landlady will get up and make you something. We had it earlier, but there's no continental, no juice, no cereals, no menu. It's an egg or bacon sandwich. Hubby had a bacon sandwich, I had 4 pieces of toast (there's only white). Two were black. On day 2, we had breakfast at 9am, same thing. I had an egg. Once we were served, the landlady took the dog for a walk and left us alone, no extra toast, no coffee or tea top up. For the money we paid, a decent breakfast was warranted. No one there when we left, so we left the key on the bar area and just left. We felt like the landlady was a bit miffed at us for getting her up to cook breakfast, but we had places to go. Didn't appreciate the dog barking for about 30 mins non-stop when it was left in the room next to ours on its own about 9pm.
