RIGHT ON THE SLOPE WITH BALCONY!
Room was very big. Plenty of space to put away suitcases and dry room downstairs for ski gear. Bed was huge and comfortable.
The listing on booking.com and the official sites do NOT properly clarify the shared bathroom.
The 1 female and 1 Male toilets and washing machine are available upstairs.
The showers are downstairs. With more toilets. Think dorm style. There a 2 private showers only for the whole chalet. NO HAIRDRYER.
NO FRIDGE in room. People put there items out on the balcony to keep cold.
You will need to cart suitcases upstairs. NO LIFTS. Than do the stairs for the dry room and showering room. HAKUBA does not have food available all day. You will need to strategically plan your eating to the opening times of places nearby. Or get food from the convenience store.
Skiin ski out
This is a gorgeous Japanese place with some tatami rooms and a lovely Japanese feel. It's a great ski-in, ski-out location. The food was also really good.
I probably would have prefered my own bathroom as going downstairs in the middle of the night was not ideal but it was really fun to stay in such a traditional quirky and interesting old building. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location, easy to ski in and out. nice and warm, friendly staff and an awesome little restaurant

You could walk out the back door and ski to the gondola. They also had a shuttle that dropped us into Hakuba.

We had to leave
Overall, we were happy with your stay here. The highlights were defiantly the location being right on the beginner slope, ski in, ski out. The Onsen in the lodge was awesome and saved having to leave after a long day. The rooms were large and had a good view. There were a few decent restaurants a brief walk from the lodge. The slopes here were excellent for a beginner.
Now for the disadvantages. They will pick you up from the train station, but do not offer a shuttle to town, and getting a taxi is quite difficult so unless catching the bus you can be stuck in the village. Staff were helpful in some parts but others less so. Check in was a mess, we had 4 separate bookings all for different rooms and pricing. They just gave us the keys together and told us to figure it all out which was confusing instead of giving each group the key they had paid for. We also had a really bad experience at the onsite restaurant. The service was the worst we have had in Japan, and most confusing despite us and the server both being native English speakers. Drinks took more than 15 mins for just a tap beer, mains came out before Entrees and even beers, an Entree was missed from the order and 2 members of our group got no food at all. There was one waitress for 4 tables, but she made a massive mess of everything. The food was expensive and pretty average so after this mess we decided to not eat here again. That isn't a big deal since there are many places around with much better food, cheaper, and much better service. There were also very few toilets, I think 2 per gender for the entire place so getting into the toilet at times could take a long time and was frustrating. Despite these few service issues, we were happy with the stay and would consider staying here again and if you want a good ski in, ski out place I would recommend going here.
