Buen sitio. Mala comida
Pros:

La vista en general desde el sitio.

Cons:

La alimentación. En general no era buena y muy reducida la carta; y estando tan lejos no tienes más opciones.

Great for short stay.
Pros:

Beautiful views, location on the lake shore. Quiet.

Cons:

Rather poor lunch and dinner menu, quite basic room facilities, chairs and sofas in public areas could be cleaner.

Great hotel and amazing rooms but overal service should be revised
Pros:

Rooms were great and extras such as viewpoint, lake, pool and the hike were great. Breakfast was also quite good.

Cons:

While the property itself is beautiful, several service-related issues significantly impacted our stay.

The most concerning experience was the hotel’s boat transfer service. We confirmed via message at 8:40 PM that we could take the 10:20 PM boat. We arrived early at 9:30 PM (our own choice), but at 10:20 PM we received a message saying the boat would be “a few minutes late,” without any apology. A short delay would have been understandable, however after 30 minutes there was still no further communication.

When we called the hotel, the staff member was unhelpful and unable to provide any clear information, stating it could be “5 minutes or 20 minutes.” In the end, the boat arrived after approximately one hour, again without explanation or apology. Upon arrival at the hotel close to midnight, the property was completely dark with no staff present, and we had to find our way to the room ourselves. The following morning, no one acknowledged or apologized for the situation. What should have been a 10-minute transfer turned into nearly three hours of unnecessary inconvenience.

Additionally, the level of staff training did not match expectations for a 5-star hotel. Small but important details were often overlooked: our room was found unlocked after housekeeping despite us locking it when leaving, and service in the restaurant felt unpolished. For example, plates were cleared while one of us was still eating, we were asked about dessert while still on the main course, and staff seemed unfamiliar with items on their own cocktail menu.

A final point for management: it felt somewhat unusual that the general manager was dining alongside guests during breakfast service, ordering the same set menu at the same time. While not a major issue, it did feel slightly out of place in a luxury hospitality setting where guest experience is typically the sole focus during service hours.

Lastly, while not directly service-related, the food offering is very limited and expensive.

Pros:

The Hotel is hidden and blends in with its surrounding nature. The team was very nice and put forth a lot of effort.

Cons:

AC in the room was the loudest we had the entire trip. The food in the reaturant was very poor, not seasoned and tasteless. Also it made all of us sick to the stomach.

We gave some cloth for cleaning. Unfortunatelly the cloth came back destroyed, unfolded and with a bad smell.

An excellent base for exploring the Flores region
Pros:

The hotel is on a beautiful clean and relaxing part of the lake with direct water access and comfortable beds around the pool. The staff could not have been more helpful, all were great but Yaneli was particularly friendly with our questions at breakfast. We found the free boat shuttles to generally be at convenient times and we only paid once for a private shuttle during our stay, at a time we preferred that day (15 USD). The spa is also excellent- the chocolate massage was one of the best massages I have had.

Cons:

As others have mentioned, the restaurant is very expensive - although we expect to be charged a premium dining in a hotel as opposed to the local area, the cheapest main for lunch or dinner was about 25 USD for a bowl of pasta. The food was tasty, but it fees a bit like taking advantage of the fact you can’t easily nip out for food due to location.

super happy engagement days in breathtakingly beautiful nature
Pros:

We celebrated our engagement at Bolontiku and we're super happy with the experience. Truly an outstanding super quiet hotel, in the middle of breathtakingly beautiful nature. The service was amazing, the staff always on point and super friendly. We booked the Temazcal on top.
We can truly recommend Bolontiku for a stay to visit Tikal, Flores - but also simply enjoy the quietude at Lake Peten Itza.

Truly a gem!
