Hotel M is good and friendly.
Pros:

- friendly staff
- they help wherever they can
- delicious food, good kitchen, polite waiters
- room was clean and its was cool on hot days too

Cons:

I booked a budget room so maybe these were OK:
Sometimes the cigarette smoke came into the room from the nearby designated smoking area.
No sound insulation: missing thresold between floor and door: music came in from the GYM and neighbours

Pros:

The staff was very nice and helpful.

Cons:

The room was dirty, I had to clean the floors, table, doors and mirrors.
I was not sure if the bedding was washed. It looked like someone could have used it before.
There was no hot water on one of the days.
The windows and walls were very dirty, there was mould above the bed.
It was very loud, I could here everyone walking in the corridors. Had to sleep with earplugs.
People were smoking in the corridors and the smoke came to my room.

The superb location and restaurant outweighed our inconveniences.
Pros:

The reception staff was friendly and helpful, the location was perfect, smack in the center of things to do and see, and the restaurant was top notch. The value was fine, when you take into account the location and season. The back of the hotel had a spectacular view of the deodar forest and snow-capped mountains.

Cons:

The receptionist required full payment at check-in, which did not happen at other stays, and he could not accept either of our USA-issued credit cards, which were in good standing. (He did direct us to an exchange which took our credit card but took a 6% fee.)
The electricity went out citywide during storms. It returned when city lights came back on.
The room was clean (but lacked toilet paper) when we arrived, but it was not cleaned, nor the waste basket emptied, nor bath supplies such as shampoo and toilet paper refilled, during our stay.

Absolutely brilliant hotel in an excellent location.
Pros:

The staff made the hotel, always so friendly and helped out with sorting taxis at good prices and making sure we were looked after.

Cons:

Could do with some modernisation. Showers were poor and would take a long time to heat up. Everywhere needed a good tidy and a fresh set of paint snd a clean.
