Quirky rooms with a lot of detail
Where was the luxury? Breakfast was bland, staff was at best nonchalant but no where close a feeling special or like a god. The room was dirty on arrival with big wads of dust in the corners and the mattress was filthy, hooks and bits were coming off the walls on arrival and made the room feel tacky. Cleaning wasn’t done properly during our stay and jam jars were opened and used when our breakfast hamper was served in the morning. In all very underwhelming experience and the stay surely did not live up to the standard they were advertising.
Staff were very welcoming and attentive. We liked the WhatsApp chat where we just had to message for any reservations or inquiries and someone would message back promptly. The room was so cosy, the air con was welcomed and the genuine feel of just luxurious comfort and everything was thought of we will definitely be back
Nothing it was exceptional
Very boutique and very different. Nice concept but maybe too quirky for the person looking for good quality and service.
Probably a bit too dark in places. I knew where our room was but I couldn’t actually see the number on the door or where the key swipe on the door was. We were shown to our room so fine. Maybe some more “strategic” lighting which wouldn’t take away from the theme of House of Gods.
Location , comfortable bed
A bit TOO quirky for me. Very dark, lots of heavy curtains & dark wood - can see out as only window in glass bricks. Room is very small .
Great location
Absolutely not worth the amount of money I paid, almost £300 for the tv not to work, can barely move in the rooms, no fridge, no storage (nothing special that would make it worth anywhere near £300) it was the same as staying in a standard hotel just fancy decor, heating wasn’t working it was absolutely freezing cold as the remote to turn the air con off wasn’t working either, definitely wouldn’t go back feel like I’ve wasted so much money.
The location was perfect for where we were going
The room is beyond small especially the wet room/bathroom. The bed is against the wall so if there are two of you, one has to clamber over the other to get out.
The sexy atmosphere did not disappoint for sure!
A review stated the rooms were small so that was expected but they were very small. And the velvet and red lights were fun, but trying to shower and get ready was a challenge with size and dim lighting.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful
I asked to change rooms (I paid to upgrade) and it was handled fast and with no trouble whatsoever
There is no food options
We have stated before the staff are always pleasant and there to help and beds are always comfy!
Aircon would not turn off and room was freezing, our tap wasn’t working great and heated floor wasn’t working
Classic, super-comfy rooms, cosy and full of atmosphere. Lovely hotel altogether. Most customer-friendly staff. Perfect position for visiting Edinburgh centre, castle, Royal Mile, etc. All the main attractions within walking distance, as well as many nice restaurants, pubs and cafés.
The only comment that I can include in this section is that the duvets were too hot for this season.
