It was worse than terrible
Pros:

The staff were lovely and friendly

Cons:

The hotel was small and dark and dingy.
You walk straight in to small cocktail lounge with a small reception desk at the back
We got taken to our room down down a narrow dark enclosed corridor
Our room was a box and the smell on opening the door was vile. It smelt like strong cat piss. There was not even enough space to walk round the bed. The bathroom was so small the shower tray was actually the bathroom floor so if you sat on toilet after a shower ur feet would be wet, the toilet roll was soggy. The sink was dirty and full of shaving. There was dust everywhere on every ledge and surface. There were drink stains left on worktop sticky and smelly. There were white stains on the curtains around bed and on the bed throw. The smell in the room was the worst though made us feel physically sick had to keep my nose under covers. There was no window in the room either except a fake brick one. Only thing that was nice was the staff. We couldn’t wait to leave the next morning

Pros:

Not much

Cons:

Too dark
Shower room was soaking. Nightmare
Room too small to move around
Floors dirty and sticky
Staff nonchalant when complaining
Couldn't find tea and coffee, hidden behind mirror. Had to walk to reception to ask where it was
Room was dirty, cramped and not for anyone looking for spacious clean luxury.
Didn't sleep a wink and left early. Very claustrophobic.

Do not book
Pros:

I can’t think of a positive other than the central location

Cons:

The condition of the room fell significantly below the standards expected—particularly given the £650 price point and the way the property is marketed as a top-tier, glamour destination.
The issues included:

Broken bath taps
Broken toilet holder
A visibly dirty bath with clear streaks of grime
Extremely messy mirrors, covered in smudges and marks
Noticeable paint chipping in multiple areas of the room
Lampshades that were dishevelled and poorly maintained
Hallways with a strong and unpleasant smell
The TV/mirror area had not been properly cleaned, with visible sticky residue from where previous guests had placed items
No milk provided for coffee
Sticky flooring
An overall unpleasant, “off” smell in the room
In addition to the poor condition of the facilities, the level of service was equally disappointing.
At check-in, there was a complete lack of basic hospitality etiquette—no offer of assistance with luggage, which is something I would expect as standard at this level.

Despite having a detailed conversation with staff about my plans (meeting a photography client in the room), this information was clearly not communicated internally. This led to an uncomfortable situation where two young female bar attendees, who were simply waiting for their mother who was in our room, were made to feel as though they needed to leave. This interaction, led by a male manager, was inappropriate and made all involved feel uneasy.

Overall, the experience did not reflect the standards you promote or the price charged. It is deeply disappointing to see such a decline,

Our favourite place to stay in Edinburgh! Unique, classy, elegant and stylish!
Pros:

Unique, sexy and rather fabulous! Staff are wonderful, the best!

Cons:

Starting to smell a little ‘fusty’ after 6+years but still a great place to stay!
