We really loved the place, The grounds were gorgeous with beautiful and differing differing views from all over the large campus. The rock outcropping all along the waterfront was particularly beautiful. Each cabin was nicely designed and with wonderful architectural elements; stone bathrooms, as well. There were walking trails in all directions and many animals and birds to view. The entire campus was huge and gorgeous and very well-taken care of and it included orchards and a greenhouse. It was a truly gorgeous destination!!! The mother and original owner, (living on the premises) was wonderfully friendly; very welcoming, interesting and lovely in every way. She walked often with me, told the history and stories about the place. And, she had a live-in cat that was found in the National Park. Loved visiting the amazingly beautiful Tortoiseshell cat. Wonderful staff, Actually they were beyond wonderful and helpful in every possible way. Jean Carlos and Everlast (or a name close to that) were unbelievably wonderful and went beyond their job duties; so helpful and friendly and running to us to tell about particular animals spotted.
We found it impossible to phone the lodge; no numbers worked. We tried everything. We ended up having to call Leo, the owner, and he was extremely disagreeable. We were missing key info and he was very ugly to us on the phone; not at all warm and client friendly. Said he was "The Owner and not a secretary". But upon arrival he was fine, just not outgoing. He tried to find animals for us to view. The Manager, Elizabeth, did her job but was also not particularly warm and friendly.
Exceptional location a bit further and quieter from crazy Drake Bay. We had the bungalow with the traditional roof made of fishtail palm leaves and could just open the door to see the waves crash on the rocks just in front of it - dreamy!! Outdoor shower: nothing to top that! The food was so nice, especially the traditional Tico breakfast and the pastries omg! Staff was super kind and helpful. The best part about Jungla del Jaguar is without a doubt their guide Yasnir. Yasnir is very knowledgeable and passionate. He has also many interesting and intense stories to tell about his wildlife encounters in and out of the national park!
Make sure to build up a minimum of physical condition before going on the Corcovado daytrip, it is quite a challenging hike with walking up (and down) a lot of muddy hills, and you will be walking 6 to 7 hours in hot and humid conditions! (With the awesome wildlife and forest beauty distractions, needless to say it's totally worth it).

If there's one thing you should do in CR, is go to Corcavado, and while there, give Rob and his team a visit. Ang go on trips, save money some place else.
Nothing really.
The Jaguars Jungle Lodge was incredible and I highly recommend staying here if you are interested in experiencing the best location in Costa Rica. We have been to Costa Rica six times and this was our favorite lodge. The location next to Corcovado allows for wildlife viewing that is rare within Costa Rica. Most lodges even within the Osa are not located in wilderness. We saw tapirs every night on the property during our 3 night stay. Another group saw a puma shortly prior to our arrival. It does require an adventurous spirit to journey to this lodge and luxuries such as air conditioning are simply not possible in such a remote location. However we were quite comfortable at Jaguars Jungle Lodge. The food was excellent, our room was comfortable and staff as well as our guide were great. We enjoyed hiking the trails around the lodge and coastline, snorkeling, the night nature tour, hiking to remote beaches and swimming at the beach in front of the lodge. Our children ages 12, 15 and 18 also thought it was fantastic. This location allows for a much different experience than many areas in Costa Rica where throngs of tourists walk the trails.
We had an incredible experience but the remote location, lack of ac as well as necessity of travelling by boat to reach the lodge means this might not be the right choice for everyone.
Also we did not have to share a bathroom with the neighbouring 2 rooms but this would have been necessary if they had been booked.
Beautiful setting on the beach with a well-maintained large garden connecting to a 2nd private beach, Very nicely and meticulously designed lodge with limited group attendance. Helpful and friendly staff for visit, expeditions.... observation of animals happens on the property premises, very close range... making it quite unique.
Some of the shared bathroom could benefit from some occasional additional checks during the day.
Incredible location, great views of nature. Stylish and done with taste.
Floor in room after cleaning was still full of sand especially the carpet also I got two ticks so they should do something about ticks in the property. I found one on the bed and two on my skin.
Also excursion with whales was overpriced but we didn’t see any an excursion was same length as others same style but cost us $450 extremely overpriced and we should be told that it is a rare chance to meet Wales in this season . All excursions we had were disappointed, and very comercial without proper explanations and gide on the property had very poor English so he couldn’t understand us sometimes when we asked questions neither could explain about nature.
Everything about JJL was very good -excellent. The room and bathroom were both huge and very nicely decorated in an appropriate rustic/natural style. Location is superb!! Wildlife and bird viewing on the property were good (and I'm very spoiled in that context as I live in the jungles of Costa Rica). We even had a visit from a giant tapir two nights in a row which was very special.
The guided hike into Corcovado NP was underwhelming (not the fault of JLL of course). In my view there are far too many people accessing the park and trails are too limited to allow for good probability of unique bird and wildlife sightings.
Absolutely beautiful tropical paradise! We saw tapirs, coatis, monkeys, toucans, macaws and other birds on the property. The meals were absolutely delicious and plentiful and the staff were friendly!
Highly recommend a stay here!!
We were disappointed with the tours and had been really looking forward to them after reading previous reviews. Our tour dates were all rescheduled and the Cano island tour scheduled for 8am left at 2pm limiting both our time and the visibility.
The staff was amiable and helpful, we had a very restful vacation. We saw a lot of biodiversity and even wild animals on the property. the food was delicious.
Fantastic location. Perfect sunsets. Visits from Toucans, Macaws and white faced capuchins. Friendly staff. Simple but satisfying meals. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Rob and Eddie were more than hospitable.
Not much to dislike.
Great location, beautiful surroundings and so much wildlife! The property is nice, food was excellent and communication before arrival was great
Experience with the staff was mixed, sometimes friendly….sometimes not, felt like asking for something was an inconvenience & comments about the tour we booked with another company were rude
