I didn’t have much luck with hot water in the shower. I know that sounds like a big deal, but I was honestly too busy to tell them about it, so for all I know it might have been an easy fix.
Big Tusks hotel is one of the nicest hotels in Marsabit with amazing people looking after you. Delicious food and superb coffee makes the stay even more pleasant.
The rooms are beautiful. It’s the perfect stop over for anyone travelling. Highly recommended.
What I loved most about this hotel was the no disturbance policy between 10pm and 7am. For me sleep is a priority so having an extremely quiet hotel was heavenly.
The owner/manager is such a wonderful gentleman with a king Herat and a great smile. Always making sure you’re taken care of.
The hotel didn’t serve alcohol, which isn’t a bad thing really however after a very long day on a bicycle a beer is what was needed. This was remedied by purchasing some beer outside and enjoying it in the comfort of my room.
The place is squeaky clean, quiet, extremely well run. I spent 3 or 4 nights but I admit I'm being biased with my review since I actually became friends with Brian and his friends, they invited me to a wedding, took care of me and drove me around, put me in contact with people who helped with my Turkana trip and gave useful advice.... I could go on and on... Thank you dear Fatima and Brian for your amazing hospitality <3
I stayed 4 nights at Big Tusks and really enjoyed the warmth and comfort of this new business hotel. Fatima and her son Brian provided a real home from home in a remote area. The room (204) was big and bright with lovely views, and monkeys outside. A nice, quiet part of town too, close to the national park.
I honestly can’t say anything disappointed. Coming back after a 4WD trek to Lake Turkana was like coming home.
Big Tusks is truly a world class hotel. When coming back to Marsabit, I would choose it all over again. It made my stay memorable
