Great out of town location with easy access to the centre and good local facilities. Free parking. Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Characterful!
Food could be improved. Bathroom plumbing very noisy.
an old property with lots of history.
Not posh probably needed a refurb however staff were great location great , food was good, ideal for the two days we were in Liverpool.
Its heritage and history, the locals were hospitable too.
The property is a 500 year old building. Has alot of character and ambience. In a fabulous location.
Being an old building it had problems with water pressure to the bathroom. Once used to what needed to be done to flush the toilet it proved to ba a fabulous stay.
Location
Room was tatty and needed decoration. No hot water on all four days between 0800-1000
A nicely cooked full english breakfast. Glad there was car parking facilities - the pub car park across the road was ideal.
Nice clean room. Could have gone very cold in an old building but heating was adequate. Nice walk in shower/ensuite in room 2. Nice big TV. We had an evening meal sat in the main bay window - a nice position to enjoy a meal and bar drink. All in all a good stay. Would recommend.
There wasn't enough tea/coffee satchets in the room. The tea bags were weak/cheap quality. The downstairs bar area (the bit tucked round the corner by the toilets) is a bit grim, dark and stank of wet dogs :(
Think you need to make it easier/straight forward to get the %discount off bar meals and the breakfast for guests staying over. I felt I had to keep saying 'we get the discount because we are staying'....
Beautiful little village. Pub and grounds were pleasant.
Some staff very attentive and some not!! Not helpful when asking bout food in the evening.
The young guy with tattoo on his arms ( cant remember his name ) he was lovely and helpful
Evening meal was pleasant.
Bed was OK pillows not the best.
Cleanliness of room especially bathroom was poor! Very stinky bathroom and extremely noisy.
Went down for breakfast it was dirty. Floors and table was just disgusting! Cleaner trying to potter around whilst people are having breakfast . Why it was never cleaned before opening it up is beyond me!!
In actual fact I would it its been sometime since hoovered and cleaned thoroughly.
Very poor breakfast! Waited ages for bland, greasy and flash cooked food. We tried it and left without breakfast!!
Cups dirty and i have a little hair on my plate too 🤢 .
Wouldn't stay again ! There is alot of nicer places to eat and stay at .
We have definitely stayed at nicer Marston inns!! That was the reason for booking this one!!
Parking très pratique. Emplacement dans Liverpool. Salle de bain et literie propre
Moquette très sale
Beautiful room and building, delicious breakfast and friendly staff!

Good location, friendly staff, convenient parking. Easy to get into and out of the city centre by taxi.
Quite expensive for the level of facilities but I accept that there was a lot of hotel rooms booked in town that weekend and I was late booking
Really lovely staff
Lovely stay
the room was big with a nice view
there was we paint with no sign from the end where I came from my bedroom and my hand got covered in paint .
it wasn't advertised as a pub so was noisy I wouldn't have chosen it if I'd known.
there were three sets of staircase and no lift which wasn't clearly stated so it was hard for me travelling alone with a baby, pram, bags etc especially as they're was no handrail to hold onto which I really needed for safety
Mixed - Comfort & Location good - Facilities & Cleanliness poor
Blood stains on stair floors & walls - they put us off breakfast the next morning.
No subtitles on TV
Lovely place and brought back a lot of memories for me.
