Pretty pub with spacious rooms in a lovely location. High quality decor. Super friendly staff. Great food.
I was in room 4 which has a small arch recessed window. Unfortunately this means part of the window can’t be covered by a blind or curtains so the light came through from 4 am.
Lovely location and property with great food and lots of added extras
One male member of waiting staff inappropriate on first night (Saturday). Rest of staff were amazing.
Great food, good local beer. Fantastic breakfast. Lovely room and a beautiful location. Great staff and service.

Gorgeous inn…perfect, welcoming interior. Super friendly staff. Room was number 6 and we had absolutely no noise issues during our stay given it is a thriving pub and restaurant. Breakfast was a joy and sets you up brilliantly for the day. My husband had a problem with his bike that needed to dry out and they very kindly kept it in their boiler room. Thank you! Highly recommend and we will be back.
A very small thing. There were a lot of cushions and throws on the bed…so many you couldn’t really find your own belongings when you took them off to go to bed.
So friendly and welcoming and Dog friendly Food is delicious The Yorkshire Pudding should come with a warning -this is a serious main course - all makes for a very relaxing stay
Cannot fault anything
What a rare gem! A pub/hotel packed full of character and charm - a calm and comfortable oasis set in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. The room was exceptionally clean, modern and equipped with everything one would need - even down to Epsom Salts for walkers’ to bathe their weary bones. En-suite was spotless with a powerful (and easy to operate!) shower. But what makes this little treasure so special is the unique and wonderful people that work there. I would say staff, but they’re more than that. You can sense it’s one, big, happy family. I must mention names. Hannah, a beautiful individual who couldn’t do enough for us - she’s an asset. Shaun, a cheeky chappy who entertained and served us a lovely, evening dinner. Kenny, the Landlord- possibly the jewel in the crown - who true to his policies supplied us with an evening dram - very nice touch. And not to forget Tracy who buzzes around the breakfast room to make sure everyone is well fed and content. She’s also an asset. Finally, I mustn’t forget Jack! He looks like a big, furry rug but he’s actually Kenny’s Bernese - I wish I could have taken him home. No faults just a huge recommendation.
Nothing. Couldn’t fault it.
Beautiful setting, lovely decor, thoughtful touches in the room. Staff were lovely. Amazing food.
The room was fa tastis with lots of lovely eztras and opulence.
The evening meal was a bit disappointing. For instance I ordered fish and chips and tbe batter, I was told, was gluten-free. Not to my taste. My husband had the stuffed Yorkshire Pudding which had far too many vegetables.
Everything
Nothing
As this was my 8th visit I think that in itself says I like this place. It's extremely dog friendly, the place is spotless, the staff are great, the beer is great, the food is great, the breaky is very good.
I only really have one criticism and that is that the 'fresh' orange juice in the morning is pretty low grade.
Great location in an interesting village. Warm welcome from extremely friendly staff. Good pub food and very comfortable room.
