The room is nice but very plain, nothing like what you would expect for this price. But the worst part: it’s incredibly noisy. The air-conditioning units of all rooms were attached to the wall of our bedroom. We didn’t sleep. A constant buzzing, swelling and fading noise that you don’t just hear, but also feel. We could also hear the snoring of the neighbours.

To make matters worse, there was a group of 24 travellers staying at the same time. This place is absolutely not suitable for such a large group. Every morning at 6 AM the noise already started.

We also booked the day trip on Ba Be Lake: 80 dollars, again totally overpriced. The scenery was beautiful, but we were so exhausted from not sleeping that we could hardly focus on the guide’s stories, let alone gather the energy to go kayaking. And then my partner got sick as well.

We really couldn’t handle another sleepless night. They tried to move us to another accommodation, but that place was even worse, with such hard mattresses that you could feel the springs. We wouldn’t have slept there either.

In the end, I had to personally ask the tour leader of the group to please switch off their air-con units between 10 PM and 7 AM (it wasn’t hot or cold, so no one needed air-conditioning anyway). Thankfully they agreed, so we finally had one somewhat decent night.

For this price, you expect at least some level of comfort and style. Overall, it felt more like a 50-dollar resort, and even that would be generous.

To be fair, they did make a small gesture: we received 10% off the room, free drinks, and one dinner we didn’t have to pay for. We appreciated that, but it didn’t come close to making up for the overall experience.

Conclusion:These were without a doubt the most expensive and worst days of our entire trip. I absolutely do not recommend this accommodation. What a disappointment.

Nebenan eine sehr laute, aktive Baustelle. Beginn 6:30 bis abends. Es wäre nett, allen Gästen deshalb einen Preisnachlass in dieser Zeit anzubieten. Wir fragten vorab nach einem Transport vom Flughafen Hanoi und zurück. Dafür mussten wir – Vorkasse!– 270 $ bezahlen. Da Ba Be unser erster Aufenthalt war, wussten wir nicht, welcher Preis angemessen erschien. Später, nach Feedback von anderen lokalen Transportunternehmen, erfuhren wir, dass der Preis extrem unverschämt war. Kein luxuriöses Auto und von Hanoi nach Ba Be wurde eine weitere Passagierin mitgenommen. Die überhöhten Preise zogen sich durch (Essen, Getränke usw.). Bei booking wird eine durchgängige Küche angegeben. Doch wir wurden gebeten am 1. Tag in einem „Restaurant“ gegenüber zu speisen (Hygiene mau mit 1 Gericht). Wir bestellten dann für Mittag im Hotel vor, konnten aber nicht auswählen. Uns wurde teilweise Ungenießbares vorgesetzt. Das ist nicht sehr ökonomisch und ökologisch. Wenn Gäste vorab auswählen dürfen (a-la-cart – so steht es bei booking), dann macht das Sinn. Da mein Mann erkrankte, konnten wir in den ersten 2 Tagen keine Touren buchen. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt war die Hauptservicekraft ignorant. Wir hatten das Gefühl unerwünscht zu sein, da an uns nicht so viel verdient werden konnte. Eine „kleine Tour“, die wir buchten, war zwar mit einem sehr sympathischen, aber extrem unerfahrenen Guide. Wir zeigten ihm die Insektenwelt, die er nicht kannte. Die Tour war sehr anstrengend – für 1,6 km sollten es laut Guide 30 Min. sein. Es ist aber unrealistisch dann noch Tiere zu entdecken und für Ältere mit Vorerkrankungen unmöglich in dieser Zeit (Überanstrengung!). Wir sind erfahren in Dschungelreisen und wissen, wie langsam wir uns bei der Luftfeuchtigkeit bewegen müssen! Somit vom Hotel nicht durchdacht und an das Klientel angepasst. Wir wollten den Regenwald entdecken. Der Weg ist das Ziel – und nicht die sportliche Höchstleistung. Um das hatten wir aber zuvor den ignoranten Servicemitarbeiter gebeten.

Scam. Go only if you are ok with paying x5 the price displayed on Booking.com. At the end of our stay we paid five times the amount displayed on our booking, all worth in transfers and guide (more than 500€ only in 2/3 days, for just 2 people). For a reference, in Hanoi we stayed in a 5 star superior hotel with spa and breakfast included all for 27€/per night/per person. Ba Be Jungle House will try to suck from you as much money as possible and SCAM you with super high prices to move around. This is a huge problem for customers as the main point of contact for a tourist in rural areas is the accommodation (no people speak English/use technology or social, so you really don’t have any alternative but to accept the prices they ask you). Don’t recommend. Zero customer care. Tourist trap. Much better to go to any other guesthouse.

L’eau de la piscine.
Les travaux bruyants à 3 mètres de la chambre de 6:30 à la nuit. Ils nous ont été notifiés la veille de notre arrivée alors qu’ils ont débuté un mois avant notre date de réservation. Nous découvrons que nous aurions bénéficié d’une réduction alors que c’est de loin l’hôtel le plus cher de notre séjour de 3 semaines au Vietnam. Nous nous réjouissions de ce séjour. Ce sera notre pire souvenir.

It was expensive and one thing especially not good was the noise insulation between two rooms. We can really hear the neighbours talking, taking the shower…

Er werd druk aangebouwd, met daarbij behorende geluid. Het eten (avond) is heerlijk, maar mist wat variatie (wat niet erg is voor 2 dagen)…

Soms wat lang wachten op onze cocktails, maar dat valt in het niets naast de SUPER-ervaring!

Loud airconditioning! Be mindful of this if you are a light sleeper. I had a very bad night (and there is no reception at night). Dinner is only availabile when you book in advance. Breakfast is okay.

Breakfast was not great. Fried banana fritters (oily) cold pancakes and eggs both days. And, although the stay was relaxing, it's quite expensive compared to other places we stayed in Vietnam.
