We had a good stay and have stayed here before.

IT was OK and served our purpose.
Pros:

Location fine. Very quiet, close to centre of town. Car parking was free. Bedroom and bathroom had storage and plenty of room to move around in.

Cons:

The wealthy travelling public in the coaching era stayed at the Bacon Arms. Today the wealthy would not stay here,.
Its rather bear with uncarpeted floors. Its tired and is in need of a revamp but not modernisation. The rear room is large and open, it needs more intimate spaces. The food is typical pub food and monotamous, it needs to attract more clientel.

Cons:

The room smelt like smoke and it was dirty, I couldn’t sleep as it was loud and the bed wasn’t comfortable one of the lights didn’t work too. The price was ridiculous for what the room was like.

The 2nd room was a disappointment but the main room was nice
Pros:

The family room suitable for up to 4 people (1 double and 2 single beds) was suitably clean (although the mirror needed a clean). There is a spacious bathroom and bedroom for this option and the bed was surprisingly comfortable (it didn't feel like it was on a level)
Good location for town with history all around it.

Cons:

Bedroom numbered 6 was unfortunately a huge disappointment with no spare rooms to exchange to. The sink in the bathroom overflowed/leaked all over the floor. The taps don't turn off so it's easy to overflow when cleaning teeth. Spare towels were given to remedy the floor wetness/apparently it wasn't possible to get a plumber in!
The shower has mildew on the walls etc.,
The window was broken inside (secondary glazing outside) leaving jagged edges!
The wardrobe had 1 handle missing with a screw ,
and finally a light bulb was out (there were 2 others).

These complaints are easy fixes and I hope they have already been remedied!

Comfortable enough
Pros:

Good location. We had a back room and it was nice and quiet. Served it’s purpose as we just needed a bed

As there was no food at the facility it would have been good if we’d had a wee fridge
