We had the whole house to ourselves and our host cooked us a lovely supper and breakfast and organised a tour to a working tea factory.
All was lovely for our purposes.
Located within walking distance of the Hatton Town.
The door locks can be more user friendly!
I really enjoyed my stay at Waluawa on the Hill. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and felt at home. It was a home from home.
Chinthaka was an incredible host and an amazing cook! He made delicious curries and when I shared that my favourite Sri Lankan breakfast is pol rotti, pol sambol & Dahl........that's what he made. It was the best brekkie I had in my month in Sri Lanka.
One day, I asked if I could have dosai for dinner. Nadesh made the dosai and that was a delicious meal too.
I will definitely return to Walauwa on the Hill recommend this haven to friends 💚
The property is charming, well located and the staff were friendly.
The bathroom could be cleaner, and overall it didn't feel like the best value for the price.
I loved how the property was surrounded by nature and even though there was the buzzing city down hill it was peaceful and quiet
Honestly I loved the property
The guest house was in a decent location, but access across the railway was a bit of a challenge for the van driver. The staff were very polite and the rooms were spacious with en-suite bathrooms.
There was no card payment facility or WiFi at the property. There wasn't a restaurant in the property for breakfast or dinner. It was too expensive in my opinion. I would recommend that this is made very clear to potential guests.
It was a awesome place. Wish we stayed longer.
The service of the staff was exceptional The house was historic and beautiful The home cooked dinners were wonderful
Everything about our stay here was exceptional! From the moment we arrived, the owner and staff made us feel so welcome, going above and beyond to make our visit truly special. They were incredibly attentive and always ready to help with anything we needed. And the food…..wow! Some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. From the authentic breakfasts to the mouthwatering dinners, every meal was an absolute treat.
The building itself is breathtaking, with so much history and charm. Staying here was a highlight of our trip, and we’re so glad we chose this incredible place.
If you’re in Hatton and looking for a memorable stay, we couldn’t recommend it more highly!
Thank you for everything, and if we ever come back to Sri Lanka, we will 100% stay here again!
The building is really beautiful, the rooms are spacious and bathroom is clean and spotless. Staff is amazing and they do everthing to make you feel at home. Food is gorgeous.
If i need to mention one thing then it is that the house is close to the railway and the road. Inside you don't hear the noise,, but sitting outside on the veranda you should sit at the back facing the greenery instead of sitting in front.
They charge you more than the price they advertise. No eftpos facilities
Charged us much more than what booking.com quoted.
Facilities provided in the room were nowhere near what was mentioned.
Quiet place. Bed comfortable. Washroom was clean.
Room was clean.
Everything and everyone was perfect! 💗
The charming building and its location in the town. Mr. Krishan was always very friendly and helpful, the staff likewise. I got a spacious and clean room.
A great place to stay in Hatton! The staff are unbelievable nice and made sure I was comfortable at all times. The owner drove me himself to the bottom of Adams Peak, and the chef made amazing food 😊 Loved drinking chai masala on the balcony with my book in the sun.
The walls are quite thin, so could hear everything the guest in the other room was saying. But good earplugs helped. A fan or just more circulation of air would’ve been good.
The property was stunning. The veranda was perfect for having a tea/ coffee, and the communal & dining space full of antiques & artefacts- just beautiful!
Everything was lovely. The bedrooms are adjoined to the main communal area, so might not suit someone who wants a long lie-in in the morning!
Wonderfully restored colonial house within easy walking distance of Hatton Station. Surprisingly tranquil considering the central location. Very welcoming host and authentic Sri Lankan menu for dinner and breakfast.
Nothing. Everything was great.
The staff was absolute briljant. The take care of you from begin till the end. Have dinner at the hotel, because they cook you the best curry’s.
Nothing
Nice colonial house, refreshing bedroom and modern bathroom.
The service we received from the owner and staff was outstanding. They helped us with all our inquiries and most importantly got us our train tickets to Ella!
Would recommend if you are passing through Hatton. Note that the home is close to day traffic but the night time is very quiet!
Nothing, rather close to the road
the place itself is amazing and has a very unique vibe. it’s beautifully renovated. the staff is very nice and helpful and the food is also great
i loved everything
