Location, great breakfast, great swimmig pool
Everything. The grounds are lovely with casitas situated along garden paths and streams. There are also rooms around the pool that provide more options. The breakfast was delicious. The staff extremely helpul and nice. We enjoyed using the pool after the beach. There's a number of good restaurants nearby. We really loved being there and will definitely be back!
Our 2 bedrooms casitas shared an open space so the sound travels if that is a concern. They would be a bit small for 2 couples to share but are perfect for families or couples that want a bit more space.
excellent breakfast
Congenial staff
small but comfortable rooms
rooms somewhat dark but need to cut some vegetation for more light
somewhat more open lawn for birdwatching
The hotel had a lovely garden with a pool and lots of bird-life which made it a very pleasant place to stay. Both the unusual sounds of the Dawn Chorus every day and constant sound of the cicadas - once the day warms up, right through to dusk - will remain in the memory! Jolana who manages the hotel was friendly and gave us some useful tips and also Fred, a great taxi driver, as we didn’t have a car.
We loved the hotel but the location about three kilometres from the main road might be a problem for some and therefore it’s best to have a car although we managed to get by without one e.g The waiter from the Citrus restaurant, located near the main road, kindly ran us back up to the hotel afterwards! The food at Citrus is warmly recommended - photo of my Indian meal below. We’d have to say the room was small and basic too but the jungly location made up for it!
Good breakfast and lovely staff. Peaceful atmosphere. They have board games and books.
The pool water made my hair feel sticky.
Room was comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated. Pool was exceptionally clean and nice for swimming. Breakfast was good, offering several choices.
breakfast was very good. Girl running the kitchen came in an hour early to give me breakfast and coffee as I had an early departure. Nice pool. Room small but clean and comfortable.
where to start. The place is super run down and way overpriced. In 3 weeks Costa Rica this was our most expensive accommodation and by far the worst. The hut was tiny, rooms and bathroom. No space to even proper open the suitcase. It was dirty. On the outside terrace was 2 chairs for 3 huts. They have benches there but they were full of some nasty red fungus. The garden would be nice but just like the rest is not maintained well. They dont really have any staff and when you arrive you have to talk to a bell. The lady who later on received us said she could help with our luggage (im pregnant and was traveling with my back sick mom and 81 year old grandmom and my little son) so she carried one suitcase down and then disappeared without saying anything so i had to carry the other two down with my grandmom. It is not very accessible since you have to walk quite some steps to reach the huts. For check out they had the gardener that had just started that day as it seemed help us with the luggage which we really appreciated. The pictures online are misleading and make the rooms/beds look bigger than they are. I would even go as far and call it fraud. Never would i ever stay there again and i recommend to look elsewhere to stay.
Breakfast was OK, but nothing special. Fruit, regular white toast, eggs, rice, and beans. The grounds of the hotel were really nice. You are surrounded by nature with a creek nearby. The pool was small but the pool area was nice to spend time in.
The room was laughably small. I mean it was TINY. It was extremely cramped even for one person, let alone two. It was just big enough to fit a small bed and that's it. I felt ripped off considering it cost almost $150/night USD and the listing/photos were sort of deceptive.
There is no privacy as the rooms are all stacked next to eachother and our door opened out to the main common area where everyone hung out and ate breakfast so it was noisy and annoying.
The rooms/furnishings were old and unappealing. The walls had some holes, the sink was ridiculous, and the shower caddy was functionally useless. The bed was very uncomfortable. They could stand to invest some money in upgrading the rooms.
There is also a popular bar right next the hotel which BLASTS live music 6 days per week from 3PM - 9PM, which I thought was really terrible. It was uncomfortable to be there with how loud it was all the time, so I didn't really enjoy being there.
Beautiful grounds
Great breakfast with multiple choices
Comfortable bed
Great staff
Nothing
Breakfast was superb as was the pool that we had to ourselves. Plus the best two restaurants in the country are just down the road.
The bar next to the property was a tad loud but the live music stopped at 9 pm
