Hotel cancelled my booking the day prior so that I needed to find a last-minute solution

I received a confirmation email the morning before my booking at this hotel, saying the facility was looking forward to my stay and needed a deposit to be paid prior. Given that I was already in town, I decided to visit the hotel to work this out, since Booking.com stated the facility would use my credit card on file to pay this deposit, so this message from the hotel was unclear.

When I got to the hotel, there was no one at reception, and it looked as though no one had been there for a while - the floors were dusty, and there was a cobweb coming down from the ceiling to the reception desk. I called the number I had for the hotel, and after multiple attempts to speak with someone (was repeatedly put on hold and the call wasn't answered), I finally managed to speak with someone, who told me they had cancelled my booking, since the deposit hadn't been paid. So in the 3-4 hours since receiving the message from the hotel confirming my booking, to the time I managed to speak with someone, the hotel had decided that they wouldn't charge the deposit to my credit card (as was supposed to happen) and to cancel my booking. When I asked whether I could rebook, I was told they were fully booked, which seems unusual and unlikely, given they had already confirmed my booking.

I needed to find somewhere else to stay, and request for Booking.com to assist with making sure I wasn't charged a cancellation fee, particularly since the hotel never properly cancelled my stay on the Booking.com system.

I would recommend staying anywhere else, if given the chance. Horrible and confusing customer service, not worth the effort.

This is fraud... There is no such hotel there. I am surprised to see booking booking.com endorsing such fraud website.

I trusted booking.com and got conned.. very bad. Sad to even big names like booking.com, indulge in fraud like this .

Fake photos and Missing Hotel stays

Cons:

Photos of the hotel are fake. The hotel didn't exist. My family was stranded on the road at 3 PM. Spoke to Customer care for more than 1 hr, they said that arrangements at a nearby stay are being made. But no response thereafter. I was forced to book an expensive stay nearby. All the Fab hotels have the same photo which misleads.. booking.com needs to review their location and take action

Pros:

Everything was in bad condition. We were not allowed early check-in. Hence, we hat to use common wash area which was disgusting. Staff was not available at counter. Location on Google maps is inaccurate. Beach is atleast 1.5 kklometers away.
