The hotel was clean, the staff very friendly
The room was a tad small.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening we both ordered the steak both of us were disappointed in the meal and didn't think it was good value for money
Breakfast was also disappointing my toast was cold and tough as if it had been sat on the side for awhile

Great value for money with the breakfast, can get busy but was worth the wait.
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff.
Room was a little stuffy in the evening due to weather during the day -fan provided but no where to place or plug in due to only being 4 accessible plugs which were primarily occupied by lamps and kettle. Opening the window invited noise overflow from bars and pedestrians. Would benefit from a small table in the room that could be easily moved around.

Cooking smells from restaurant come into the hotel. Didnt particularly bother us, but might be a problem for some. City center location means you will be disturbed by cleanup / bin lorries in the street outside. Again, didnt bother us, but worth being mindful of.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The room in the roof was wonderfully romantic, with exposed beams on the ceiling and a standing bathtub in the bedroom. Staff were very kind and left an annivsary welcome with chocolates on our bed and carried our luggage up to our room. Wonderful breakfast too!

Location - very central in York. Comfortable bed; friendly, helpful staff; character building; very good breakfast.
Whilst the location is right in the middle of York, it can come with some disadvantage- if staying over a weekend, noise levels from night time revellers are noticeable.

Mistake with breakfast final day, wrong meal served and non gluten free bread. Not impressed
