Ideal location
Always our first choice in York. Central, independent. Well run, always super welcoming and outstanding breakfast.
I liked the cottage style of the room, it was very warm even without the heating despite it being a little cold outside.
The room was on a little bit of a slant but didnt really affect much.
Location was perfect
Being told we could finish our nightcap drinks shortly after ordering in our room as the bar was now closed . Felt like we were being sent to bed. We would have had this drink elsewhere had we known this would happen .
Location is brilliant, food lovely, welcoming and friendly staff! Quirky decor😊
Only downside was not being able to open the window in the heat but understand that might not be an option! The fan on ceiling was a big bonus!

Another wonderful stay at the quirky hotel which is in the centre of York, the hotel room was lovely overlooking the busy street below, the breakfast was amazing and the staff very kind in taking our bags up to the room and putting the fan on before our arrival as it was a very hot day, the parking with the discount is an added bonus and the Q-Park is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, we would not stay anywhere else since finding this gem of a hotel

Absolutely great location, right in the middle of everything. Breakfast was delicious and served by friendly, attentive staff.
I was in room 15 at the very top of the house, a bit of a climb so wouldn’t suit everyone.
I knew before I arrived that there was no shower in the room, just a free-standing copper bath in the main room, which again wouldn’t suit everyone.
The only small gripe I have was a cooking smell that permeated my room.
All in all a good stay.
Very close to the Minster and easy walking to most places in the city centre.
The bar closed at 10 and we were asked to take our drinks to our rooms 😬😢

Staff were absolutely brilliant! Dave (GM) attentive, flexible and sorted out a couple of issues on the spot. Location is obviously big selling point but I have to say breakfast was one of best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had
It’s an old building (obviously) so accessibility not great. Also even in mid/high 20s centigrade rooms were very hot and little fan on all night didn’t cut it !
The location is perfect. Right in the city centre with the Minster only a 30 second walk away.
The bathroom in my room was slightly small. Especially the shower.
Erg sympathiek hotelletje in hartje York, met een eigen persoonlijkheid. Uitstekend ontbijt. Rumoer van de straat wordt goed buitengehouden dankzij voorzetramen.
Kleine kamer, maar dat hoort erbij in een stadscentrum. Bed wat minder comfortabel.
