Peter and Susan were excellent hosts. Very friendly and helpful. Sun was out so we made good use of the renovated garden where we ate our Indian takeaway. Our hosts kindly supplied plates and cutlery. The dog was also happy, making some doggy friends and saying Hi to the rabbits in their hutch. An enjoyable stay.
The host was very friendly and helpful and would strongly recommend this as a good stop over for any bikers heading further north into Scotland.
Cosy, traditional with modern facilities. Peter and Susan were fabulous hosts and welcomed my well-behaved Springer like he was a VIP guest. Value for money is excellent and I will definitely be returning. 5 stars!
If I was being really, really picky, and it was actually fine, I was worried when I realised the toilet in the ensuite was a klargester unit as I have bad experiences of these in a property I rented in Edinburgh. This one was absolutely fine, so no negative points from me!
Exceptionally clean, plenty of character, ideally located for out visit.
Only thing was kitchen not yet open
The property name and nice pictures on the walls!
I rarely leave negative reviews but I feel I have to leave this place a review to provide constructive criticism/ advice.
A good idea when starting this kind of business is to spend a night or two in it yourself to see what works and what doesn’t.
We were in room 3 and on first appearance the room is on the small side but with nice pictures on the walls. Decent start. Spending time in here quickly becomes frustrating.
- There is nowhere to hang any clothes or put any luggage apart from on the desk behind the door. Instead of a full length mirror on the wall opposite the door, a compact chest of drawers combined with hanging rail all in one piece (like they sell at Ikea) tucked into the corner with its back to the wall with the two pictures on it and with the mirror attached to the end facing the door would be much more useful. Also a few hooks on the back of the room door to hang bag, coat, hat etc would be very convenient.
- There is a distinct lack of plug sockets and a lot of dangling cables. There is a socket under the TV with hanging cables for fire stick and the tv. This looks messy and is a risk as this is a dog friendly room. (Thankfully ours doesn’t care about cables but I know of ones that do like to play with any cord etc dangling like that!) Cables like this can be easily and neatly boxed in with plastic cable casing. Not a big job but makes a big difference. They should also go behind the shelf under the tv rather than hanging messily over it. This two plug socket also seems to be the only one for that side of the room so if you’ve got the tv and fire stick plugged in, you can’t plug in the kettle on the window sill or plug in the bed side light or charge your own devices. (The cable on the kettle is actually too short to reach the socket so has to go on the floor to reach the socket and boil!) An extension cable or multi socket plug in would be an obvious and easy solution.
Peter and Susan went out their way to make our stay enjoyable. Lovely , friendly atmosphere. Dogs were made very welcome and spoiled with cuddles. Beer garden a great extra addition and is lovely and relaxing.
Have no negatives about the stay. Added bonus to the rooms would be a small fridge, otherwise everything else was great .
Unique
Great staff
Not much
The bed was comfortable. The tv was good and had a fire stick.
Albeit it is an old property the whole of the upstairs accommodation needs a lot of TLC .. the stairs and hallway were dirty. The windows were dirty, the shower cubicle was falling to bits, there is no where to hang towels in the shower room, the mirror is not over the sink and far too high where it is positioned.
Nice comfortable room, really friendly and helpful owner. Comfortable , friendly bar ( obviously very popular with the locals). A lot of work has been done to the property and external improvements are ongoing. Would stay again and no problem recommending the Tipsy Coo
The ensuite shower room could have done with an upgrade but I am sure this will be dealt with judging by the rest of the property
They don't normally provide breakfast, but on this occasion did for me. I and my two small dogs were made to feel very welcome. I had a problem with the television as not used to anything other than basic tv, but Peter was quick to respond .whenever asked.
I had a slight problem with stairs as my balance is not too good, but taking them slowly I was fine. It is a very old property, so limited what they can do.
Great location. Very quiet. Very clean. Staff were absolutely superb.
Friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff.
Tiny ensuite facilities.
Clean friendly and basic accommodation
Stairs to rooms very steep. Not easy for poor walkers.
Ensuite has little extra room
The property was so cosy. The staff and regulars in the bar so welcoming. Can’t wait to see the progress with this business. Will definitely stay again.
Nothing not to like. But be better when food is up and running
Great welcome from owner, lovely little place to stay. Thank you Pete.
