Alto do forte
The accommodation has ample parking although the entrance to get in and out is intimidating, but once you get used to it, it’s easy to navigate. The parking is safe, secure and you can get the lift straight to the rooms to the garage and vice versa. It isn’t as clear though where the lifts are inside the parking garage so signage could be clear to avoid people hiking back up the steep decline the car came in from.
The accommodation is beautiful, very modern and plenty of space to put away your clothes with towels being changed everyday and rooms cleaned everyday. There’s plates, mugs, cutlery, utensils, frying pan and a kettle and coffee maker. I’d advise you to buy some sugar or sweetener if required and bring some fairy liquid and surface cleansing wipes just to maintain the hygiene whilst cooking or making food at the apartment. They do provide some dishwasher tablets however! I brought my own dish cloth and hand cloths for wiping dishes and hands after reading the initial reviews and im glad i did, as the apartment doesn’t provide this. I also brought my own tea bags as we drink at least two cups a day between us. The apartment could do with providing some cling film, foil or some sandwich bags/ lunch boxes which would be super helpful for families staying here, we went to the local supermarket and brought some. We also brought some additional toilet rolls not realising there’s some spares under the sinks if you push press the draw. The apartment had a hairdryer but not a very powerful one so I did bring my own, I’m glad I did. They do provide you an iron and ironing board upon request and there is a washing machine and some laundry detergent as well as some laundry pegs although I haven’t quite discovered where to dry the laundry yet. The bathrooms are modern, clean and well maintained. The drain sometimes can be slow to drain but the showers are hot and hand wash and shower gel is provided.

Great quality and spacious for a ‘small’ appearing hotel. We had a one bedroom apartment. Kitchen and dining area very nice! We used the pull out sofa bed in the living area. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms didn’t feel cramped with the sofa bed pulled out like traditional hotel rooms.
Ground floor lobby was very inviting and breakfast area comfortable and good quality. One dish of hot cooked eggs seemed to be the standard each morning, and the rest was continental style.
Very responsive staff and very friendly and helpful in communications before arriving and throughout our stay. Enjoyed the sauna and the hot tub! We went late March and the AC units were also for heat which kept the room very comfortable.
Location was excellent for walking to the marina where we had meeting points for activities. And walkable to all the main areas in Ponta Delgada. Steps away from the iconic church.
If I had to really find something it’s that our room was next to the road so we didn’t want to open drapes wide for privacy, and there wasn’t really a view. But there were 3-4 floors so one level up probably felt more private. It was however a very quiet road and it felt like good sound insulated windows.
There was a safety/emergency exit light above the door which was extremely bright at night so we had to cover it with a small towel for the person sleeping on the sofa bed. We forgot to ask the front desk if there was anything they could do but we found our own makeshift solution.
The apartment was spacious and bright! The breakfast was good, the location was perfect for the last day to relax after hiking all week. We had the spa all to ourselves!

Room reasonable size, clean and reasonably equipped, although it could do with suitcase stands. Breakfast good. Facilities good pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish bath. Underground garage to save your rental cars wing mirrors. Staff friendly.
No message sent with key code for door, necessary as reception is not staffed 24×7. In addition staff took over 20 minutes to respond when fire alarm went off at the weekend as no one on site. This only after they were telephoned. If it had been a real emergency this could have been disastrous. Otherwise plastic covered sofa in room not comfy and limited hanging space for clothes compounded by no suitcase stands (try using a couple of dining chairs).

The apartment was relatively clean (compared to other hotels I've stayed in
6), but could be cleaner (mostly bathroom and floors). And spa area - jacuzzi, wasn't clean.

O apartamento tem tudo o que precisamos, o staff é muito simpático e profissional. Estava frio para a piscina exterior, mas aproveitámos bem o jacuzzi, sauna e banho turco. O pequeno almoço é bom e variável. A localização é excelente para ir a pé ao centro. Recomendo.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The apartment we stayed in was very spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped, we even did a bit of cooking during our stay and could find everything we needed. The hotel staff was very helpful, they kept in touch on WhatsApp during our stay and gave us recommendations. They even helped us book tables at different restaurants. The staff was also happy to turn the sauna on when asked which we greatly enjoyed after a long day of sightseeing. Also, huge plus for the free underground parking garage.
Nothing really, more like recommendations. There was no place by the entrance to hang our coats, even though there was plenty of space. A kitchen towel in the kitchen would've been really useful! Also, our towels were replaced most of the days, even though we didn't throw them on the ground (they were just hanging in the bathroom). Again, not an issue, just something we noticed.
