Fantastic high quality hotel with first class customer service and excellent food and facilities
Pros:

The views were spectacular and the premises was modern and very well equipped. Facilities were all in working order and spotlessly clean.

Unsere Erwartungen wurden leider bei weitem nicht erfüllt; überzahlt, kalt & unsympathisch

Die Lage am langen Sandstrand ist wunderschön und war mit ein Grund, weshalb wir das Hotel ausgewählt hatten.
Die veganen Optionen auf der Speisekarte waren ein anderer Grund und hier wurden die Erwartungen erfüllt.

Cons:

Leider hat das Hotel unsere Erwartungen bei weitem nicht erfüllt. Mit seinem sehr hohen Preis hatten wir entsprechend hohe Ansprüche. Wir erhielten ein Zimmer nicht direkt im Hauptgebäude, welches sehr kalt war und durch seine exponierte Lage noch stärker dem Wind und der Kälte ausgesetzt war. Die Heizung im Badezimmer ging gar nicht, was wir direkt am Abend bemängelten. Am Tag danach mussten wir nachfragen und es hiess nur, es sei wohl noch niemand vorbeigekommen. Wir froren uns leider noch einen weiteren Tag durch und erst am nächsten Tag reichte es uns und wir bestanden auf einen Zimmerwechsel. Diesen erhielten wir dann auch ganz unkompliziert. Aber das hätte eigentlich vom Hotel aus angeboten werden sollen und zwar direkt am ersten Abend. Das neue Zimmer wäre warm und schön gewesen, generell viel moderner. Dennoch seinen hohen Zimmerpreis nicht wert. Übrigens hatten wir extra den Better Room genommen - der Sitzecke wegen. Dabei handelt es sich aber einfach um einen Stuhl der im Zimmer im Weg steht.
Von Schottland bin ich ansonsten sehr angenehmes Personal gewohnt und war diesbezüglich recht enttäuscht.
Schade, mit dieser tollen Lage könnte man definitiv mehr daraus machen.

Pros:

C’est un hotel très chaleureux, avec de belles pieces hautes, un beau salon avec cheminée autour duquel on se réchauffe, un bon whisky à la main. Le sauna et les bassins à bulles sont très bien et inclus dans le prix (pas de supplément)
Le restaurant est très bien, avec des plats en fonction des arrivages (homards, huitres, langoustines)
Les chambres (standard) sont bien, la douche chauffe tout de suite (important après etre sortie sous la pluie), la literie est de qualité.
La plage est à 10 minutes de marche et elle est très belle, parfaite pour la balade avant le petit déjeuner.

Cons:

Le service était lent et il fallait souvent se manifester pour être servi, mais ils étaient tres accueillants
Il n’y avait pas assez de rangement dans la chambre pour mes affaires.
Pas de prise électriques internationales mais des ports usb étaient disponibles.
Il manquait un peu de pression dans la douche à mon gout.

Delightful
Pros:

The concierge (both of them) were excellent. My apologies that I don't remember their names anymore but the main might have been Jessie. The room and service were the best I've ever had. That's partially because the Machrie has a few more stars than my usual hotel and partially because the service was clearly excellent. My wife and I also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the chef made me a substitution for me based on an allergy I have in a way that would have never happened in the states.

Cons:

I'm really trying hard to think of anything. Maybe that I liked my wife's dinner was better than mine, but that says more about me than the menu. Both meals were excellent.

Great location by the beach
Pros:

Beautiful location, just next to a wonderful beach (we went into the water in late August - stunning - and after that into the hot tub - highly recommendable), service is a bit volatile overall

Our favorite hotel on our Scottish vacation. Would definitely stay again.
Pros:

Loved the decor! The staff was extremely helpful and even mailed back shoes that fell out of our car. The restaurant staff was top notch.

Cons:

The person attending the golf shop could have been more helpful. We didn’t know where hole number one was located. We had to set up the trolleys which did take a bit of effort to shove in the handle. The golf course should have better signage on the course at least for hole 1.

Must for golfers.
Pros:

Great quality after renovation.
Awesome golf course.
Good food, great oysters!
Very helpful staff.

Amazing, definitely coming back.
Pros:

The hotel’s décor, ambiance, and the warm hospitality of the staff were exceptional. In particular, bartender James Newman elevated our experience and made our stay truly memorable.

Cons:

The size ratio between the room and the bathroom felt unbalanced. The bathroom was unusually large, which made it cold and not very functional. Additionally, the bathtub was extremely high and had no handrail for support — a potential safety hazard. I struggled to get out of the tub without touching the towel heater, which was the only surface available to hold on to.

Islay hospitality at its finest
Pros:

Our stay at The Machrie was absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The property is stunning, with unobstructed views of the Atlantic from so many vantage points. Every possible comfort has been considered - including amazing wood burning fire places, hot tubs, complimentary wellies - which made our stay seamless. The staff at the Machrie show so much genuine passion and enthusiasm, and really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was extra special. From whisky pairings, oyster luges, 18 holes of incredible golf - this is Islay hospitality at its finest. Thank you to JC, Callum, Cameron and Nick for making our stay one to remember!

Looking forward to visiting again in the future. A very enjoyable experience.
Pros:

Both the continental and the cooked breakfast were great. The staff were all very friendly, attentive and gave you their time, even while busy. Makes a big difference to the experience.

Cons:

The size of the portion for mains at dinner (I ordered the cod) was a little small and I still felt quite hungry afterward. I appreciate this may be subjective, but I genuinely feel the small amount of potatoes and 3 mouthfuls of vegetables was a little on the mean side.
Would have preferred a more detailed description of the cheeses as would not have ordered it if I knew there was whisky infused through the cheddar. Again, that's just personal taste, but better to have the knowledge / option.
