Our stay was very disappointing and did not match the expectations based on the price and presentation of the accommodation.

There were a few positive aspects, such as the location and the general appearance of the property, which initially gave a good impression.

However, during our stay, the hotel was undergoing renovation works, which caused significant noise and inconvenience. The room itself was poorly maintained: there was a strong sewage smell in the bathroom, a loose tile in the shower which created a safety hazard, visible stains on the curtains, and even a hole in the wall near the air conditioning unit. The air conditioning barely worked, and the beds were uncomfortable and sagging.

In addition, there was a lot of noise at night from both the street and other guests. At one point we even saw an intoxicated guest sleeping in the hallway, which made the environment feel quite unpleasant.

Unfortunately, we were also unwell during our stay and were unable to properly rest due to all of the above issues.

We have tried to resolve this both via Booking.com and directly with the accommodation, but did not receive any response from the property.

Overall, this stay felt far below the expected standard and was not good value for money.

Great location, nice room, but a lot of noise.
Pros:

Room was big and comfortable. View over the Lake was lovely. Outdoor area was nice. Sunbeds very comfortable. Pool looked dirty, did not use it for this reason.

Cons:

We were in a top floor room with a thatched roof, so it was extremely noisey in the morning. The thatched roof meant there was no sound-proofing at all. We were awoken early every morning with very loud leaf blowers outside. I would recommend asking for a room that is not on the top floor so that you have a solid roof with better sound proofing. Considering Bacalar is generally a very quiet town, it is very noisey early in the mornings when the outdoor workers are at their busiest.
