It is on the "Backpacker's Road" of Cat Ba. The hotel is more than happy to arrange the tours and transportation to your next destination. The beds were good enough, the rooms had everything you'd expect, including a minibar/fridge, and a place to hang a few items of clothing, which is not always available elsewhere. There are also some nice little touches here and there which are cute. There's a rooftop area where you could hang out, equipped with a pool table. The owner is very kind to have upgraded us to one with a window facing the town, which is very thoughtful and much appreciated. The included breakfast is basic, but enough, and you can have all the coffee you want :)
The toilet itself had some problems that you need to tweak to get it to flush, but nothing major, everything else worked fine.

The location is 20 minutes away from Cat Ba town and all the tourists, which is exactly what I was looking for. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped me book a cruise which was very enjoyable.

With an amazing mountain view from the room and super friendly staff. I remember the moment that I opened the window to breathe some fresh air but I was amazed by the songbird which is totally in contrast with the noises from the town out there.

The homestay was a beautiful, rustic location that was just perfect. There were chickens, ducks, and a cow roaming about, and we were surrounded by jungle. It was wonderfully quiet. The manager also had some excellent suggestions for activities and was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Service was amazing and room is pretty spacious. Reception staff was really friendly and command of English was impressive. Definitely recommend!
