Lovely and friendly service, I felt very comfortable and even felt at home.
Tredington is a small village outside of Shipston on stour. If you don't have a car, it is a bit far off anything. The Lion is a quirky inn and restaurant. All a bit falling apart but charming and full of character.
We took 2 rooms. Our suite had a comfy bed and very rough coach. It has amall windows and one of them is just above the restaurant chimminy so all the cooking odour gets into the room.
Some very nice touches of tea coffee and cookies in the room and plenty of milk available from the restaurant.
The restaurant and pub are amazing. Very good food, nice beer garden and cheerful stuff. Loved it.
Breakfast is a set continental.
So it's a mixture of a very quirky beatiful well kept English inn, exellent restaurant, ok rooms, which needs a bit more Tlc maybe and some adaptations, but still an enjoyable stay.
We arrived during a heat wave. All small English places find it hard to cope with this. We had a small fan in the room but the bedding was not fit for the heat and a nice big fan would have been nice.
The other room had an uncomfy bed but other than that was good. Lached a fan though.
Shower was very erratic. Nice hot water and then freezing water. In the heat not so horrible but in cold days....
In the last day we saw another couple order an omlette in breakfast, and were sorry we didn't know we had the option to do so. We didn't mind paying if we only knew the option was available.
The accommodation and setting was excellent. The host was very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Would 💯 recommend and will definitely be returning.
Lovely period property. Great ale and food.
A warm comfortable, quirky little pub. Comfortable rooms, great food with a fantastic host and his team
Mark was very friendly and helpful and hos staff were just as good. The food was YUM!!!. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable.
Nothing
My husband and I had a lovely weekend stay at The Lion. The location was the perfect hub to travel by car to different places. We even decided to walk into Shipston which took 40 minutes, and then a quick bus ride back (which stops outside).
Accommodation was lovely. Full of character, very clean, super comfortable and quiet.
Mark the owner was fantastic and made you feel at home :) All staff were so welcoming and friendly.
We ate here both nights during our stay, and the food was exceptional. We tried all the starters, beef pie, crab salad, teriyaki salmon and different desserts: treacle tart and sticky toffee pudding, which were yum!
Breakfast was also great with the options of fruit, granola, yogurt, croissants, bacon sandwich or eggs.
We would highly recommend The Lion and hope to visit again soon.
Excellent food. Very hospitable staff who did everything they could to make us comfortable and welcome.
Lovely, clean and comfortable room
Great dinner!
Noisy- to be expected in a very old building
The property is well decorated, has lots of character and we really liked the theme of the lion (pictures, toys, ornaments, etc) running through everywhere to connect to the pub name. A lot of thought and attention has been put into the feel of the place to make it a pleasant place to stay.
The landlord is very welcoming and attentive and made the experience of staying there very enjoyable. The food was also amazing and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
A negative was that the bed we slept in was quite old and creaky - we couldn’t get much sleep due to the bed continually creaking a lot every time we moved. Not sure if it was just the bed in our room or if other rooms were the same. However, the lack of sleep let down our stay slightly.
Also, noticed quite a few cobwebs in our room and in other rooms of the property - however, aside from this though the property was overall very clean.
Food was excellent- especially the pies!
Staff were lovely!
Decent ales.
Although part of the olde worlde character, Access to the room was very difficult via a twisting stair and restrictive head room. Door jam headers were low, resulting in
a lot of head bumps.
Wonderfully English
A homely feel
Very nice & room was lovely
