La atencion en el desayuno junto al mar
Location is great! Bed was clean and comfortable. Shower had good water pressure.
No reception...check-in was at a different hotel across the street and no signage to let you know. The receptionist (across the street) noticed me and came to advise. Hot as hell in the room- there was an air conditioner and you would think it would have been turned on since I was expected. Toiletries provided were horrible. Two huge steps to climb up to the area where the bed was--no hand rail. Was not like the ad pictures. No towels of any kind anywhere - had to walk back across the street to the other hotel to get a towel. I could see that the place has a lot of potential and but it has a very long way to go!!! Definitely not the bungalow vibe, derelict looking.
Near the beach ans that's the ONLY good thing about this place !?....
Major Concerns and Negative Experience:
1. Misleading Booking Strategy:
There are two properties with the same name, which is incredibly deceptive. We believed we were booking the Kintakana resort shown in the photos, with beachfront access, a pool, and beautiful facilities. Instead, we were placed in a subpar property across the street that looked nothing like the pictures.
This feels like a deliberate bait-and-switch tactic. Upon arrival, we were told we could "upgrade" to the actual resort for an additional $100 per night. If you chose the non-refundable option, you’re trapped with no way to resolve the issue.
2. Disgusting Mold and Humidity Smell:
The room smelled overwhelmingly of mold and humidity, making it unbearable.
Ventilation was nonexistent. The back of the bedroom had two large windows, but they faced a brick wall just two inches away and had no mosquito nets. The front window had a broken mosquito net, which the staff taped after we complained, but the airflow remained insufficient.
Even with the A/C running on anti-mildew mode, the suffocating air quality persisted, making it nearly impossible to sleep.
3. No Hot Water:
While the shower had decent water pressure, there was absolutely no hot water. Taking an ice-cold shower after a long day at the beach, especially when the evening was cooler, was extremely unpleasant.
The lack of hot water made it impossible to warm up before bed, adding to the discomfort of our stay.
4. Lack of Security:
The property felt extremely unsafe. There was no security monitoring who entered or exited—just a glass door that anyone could walk through.
One evening, we saw a very creepy man walking slowly inside, hands in his pockets, looking into each room before leaving. This incident made us feel vulnerable, especially since there was no onsite reception; it was located across the street at the main Kintakana resort.
The broken mosquito net on the front window added to our insecurity.
Location
Half the staff was rude and unapproachable and there was mold in our room as well as in the public spaces. We ultimately became quite sick due to this and the second half of our stay was ruined.
The location was excellent. The beach and the beach staff and the restaurant were wonderful. The food was good. It’s right on the corner from Main Street where all the action is perfect.
The room was absolutely horrible. One of the worst I ever stayed in. The toilet seat broke and the staff took the toilet seat away and didn’t give it back until I complained and they made a special trip late at night. They were gonna leave it. They refused to give us any more than two towels after the shower flooded and I had to use one towel to mop the floor. The curtain rod fell off and hit me on the head. When we first arrived, they said we could have two beds in an air-conditioned room. It was an a tumble down shack without air conditioning across the street from the main hotel. And the second bed was literally a mattress on an attic floor with a broken window and mosquitoes filling the room. The mattress was an unmade bed. The staff said they could give me a sheet but no pillow and this for $200 a night. When I complain, they finally sent me to a better room with one bed, and I had to share with my companion, which was the hardest thing I ever slipped on in my life.

Loud, unsecure, bad shower, curtains had holes in them, only 1 USB socket worked, stained/unclean coffee cups.

Staff were not very helpful, wouldn't let us leave the bags the next day.

Location is excellent, close to the ferries that go to Cozumel. I appreciate the low key vibe of the hotel and the accessibility there is to the beach and pool. It is a great value for being beach front and smack in the center of Playa, close to shopping and delicious restaurants.
I meant to only stay there a couple of nights but ended up extending my stay. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful.
No cable TV to unwind at night, only YT and NF. Water pressure in shower was weak and the bathroom sink leaked water. The rooms (I stayed in two different ones) could use some hooks as there isn't a place to hang your clothes after being in the water. Despite these minor details, if you are not high maintenance and are looking for a comfortable place on the beach for great value, this is the place.

The location was great, just off the beach with direct access to the beach.
Breakfast was not good and no tea was available. The waiters were unpleasant.

The room we got was in the older section. Smelled moldy and humid. Bathroom worn down.
Nothing about this property was enjoyable.
Booked ocean view room. Room nothing like photos. Curtains would not close. Bug casings and hairs on the bed and sheets. Offered a pool side room instead which was all that was available. Rat traps outside each room. Awake during the night hearing the rats in the wall. Horrendous experience. Left after one night. Hotel refused refund.
Beach and location is perfect
Rooms with side seview are quite different, could be easily improved e. G. By installing some wooden boards for cloths, Internet works good at the beach, but not in all rooms, were not able to fix it within 1 week, breakfast no choice only eggs and juice, serving often took quite some time
