Location, style of the rooms.
We had a lake facing room with a balcony which was lovely to sit out on.
We ate at the Boathouse, which was lovely
The only thing I would fault about our stay was the price of the wine.
£18 for a 250ml glass of Malbec is quite frankly obscene. I really don’t know how anyone can justify that price.
Attended an evening function - the food was superb! The room was well laid out and the staff were amazing.
The beer prices are a little steep and they don’t serve draughty Guinness!
Well presented, big room. Good facilities. Breakfast was lovely, great selection and all very fresh!
Bathroom smelt damp
Fresh, modern and clean
Only location
No single bottle of water at the room no improper sounds at the premises banging next room doors noises in next room even my children rooms was the same
Rooms should be sound proof
Great location and friendly staff
Breakfast a little expensive at £19 as the quality wasn’t the best.
The staff are very friendly & helpful. Very dog friendly
The facilities could do with more work. The spa needs more maintenance; ice machine not working, tropical shower not working, other things not available, towels piling up in the changing rooms. Have been to other places with better maintained facilites.
View was of a pond not a lake and of all other rooms felt miss sold.
Early closing restraunt and facilities even though it was a fully booked weekend.
Staff were very approachable, professional and addressed our concerns and resolved our initial issues with the room.
They moved us to a room with waterfront views as we had booked which was much less tired, had the views promised and working lights/facilities. The views here were nice. It was good to have some later evening food options open to us as we arrived in the evening after work. The breakfast was excellent. The bar staff were friendly and helpful throughout the evening.
We paid a little extra for a room with a waterfront view for the weekend. The room we were initially allocated was in a dark corner of the first floor - so while there were doors to the decking it faced directly onto a concrete wall in a canal-style inlet of rooms. It wasnt really what we expected from the photographs and descriptions. Moreover the bedside light did not work and there were no general overhead room lights in the main bedroom so it was very dark. The hotel felt busy and the decor was much more tired compared to other de vere sites we had stayed at.
It was also very disappointing to learn they charge a significant amount extra to use the pool and leisure facilities - for a hotel weekend away this is usually a given and forms part of our selection process for a winter weekend getaway.
Because of these reasons we probably wouldnt stay here again, there are other de vere sites that have a lot more magic for better value.
Good overall
When checking in we asked the man checking us in if we could book the boat house for 4 people , he said it was fully booked all evening , I asked to try again and again but he said absolutely no chance.
Our daughter then booked a local pub a few miles away , however I thought I would check online , immediately I was able to book a table at 20:30 at the boathouse . We arrived there were a number of empty tables , we have a lovely evening the staff at the boathouse were spot on ……. I do not understand why the check in man told us it was full .
Huge hotel! Beautiful surroundings. Spa was super clean and comfortable. Warm pool which has buttons on the side to press to make sections of it more like a jacuzzi! Steam and sauna really big and clean! We visited on a Tuesday so the hotel/spa was not busy at all. At best there were 5 people in the spa! Really lovely spacious room with a great balcony and all day sunshine.
Food at the boathouse was really tasty. Great experience!
Nice surroundings, good for walking. Very comfy bed, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast, nice bar and good restaurant. Free parking and dog friendly 🐕
Pool and Spa facilities nice and not too busy
The dog in room 116 barked for a long early every morning waking us up.
The reception area and pub/restaurant next to.
Something was missing in the rooms for this to be exceptional. And the noise from the other rooms.
The location
The entrance landscaping needs some work
Spacious room, super dog friendly, quiet. Loved the views into the water.
Nothing didn’t like.
