Old, quirky, original features , character
Loved the accommodation. Friendly staff. Great walk to the waterfall.
Ideal location for our trip Wednesday night live music was greatj
We stayed in the one bed apartment, on entering it seemed very pleasant and nice and warm
But the kitchen was very grubby crumbs all over the worktops, oven was dirty and
The fridge was balanced on a random set of draws, pedal bin was broken.
Bathroom had a hole in the wall and it had been filled with tissue paper, shower needs re grouting and screw caps
Replacing.
The dining chairs all need attention the legs are loose
Cobwebs everywhere
The place is actually cleaner now than when we arrived 😳after we had a quick clean
Such a shame could be an amazing place
The pub was ok, food was very average, and the staff need to go on a PR course.
Dog friendly, bedrooms newly refurbished, amazing home cooked food, friendly staff and very welcoming!
Nothing! Wonderful stay
Lovely unchanged old inn with rustic farm tools hanging in the bar, and roaring fires in most areas. Good entertainment from local group Tuesday evening.
Bedroom recently tastefully refurbished with oak finishes and furniture
Food was average pub grub only, and served on cold plates-Jackie’s pet hate.
Pleasant staff ,accommodation and location
Food was tasty but could have been hotter
Excellent Breakfast
Breakfast was good
Location was great
Beds where clean and comfortable
Rooms were very small the bathroom was so small you could barely move about, we had to change rooms due to the bathroom being dirty had not been cleaned at all.
The accommodation could have been massively improved by a deep clean - it was not clean at all in many areas. Appreciated the bar was very old and a charming part of the place but guest room bathrooms should be hygienic and these were unfortunately no where near.
Apartment was warm, comfortable and very clean.
Menu and food in restaurant was good.
We had to report no hot water in the shower bur this was fixed quickly.
Staff were not particularly freindly or accomodating.
No 'good mornings', no smiles and appeared to show no interest in any of their guests.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the pub it was so warm and cosy with 2 fires going. Quite a few beer taps which i didn't expect. Food was delicious I had dinner and breakfast (the sausages were excellent). Loved the location in general right down the road from buttertubs pass an amazing road to drive. If I needed a hotel in the area again I'd definitely stay here.
Bedroom door was abit stiff and you can hear noise from other rooms a little but didn't affect my sleep.
Warm clean and well presented. A very nice breakfast. Great value for money. Excellent nights sleep
Great character property, top notch hearty food and beer, staff friendly and attentive. Waterfall adjacent to the garden, worth a visit. Room decorated to a high standard and clean
Room a bit on the small side for a double. Music on a Friday night you’ll have no chance of sleeping, very loud till midnight
Location perfect for my needs
Cosy bar facilities
Bedroom and bathroom too small
The location was magnificent! Beautiful part of the Dales and we loved spending 2 lovely evenings dining and playing cards in the pub. The staff were so lovely and gracious. We were a bit rowdy with our loud laughing.
We had a gorgeous view towards Hardraw force from our room. The room was well laid out and equipped with a boot mat, plenty of water bottles, biscuits, tea and coffee and a fridge. The bed linens were clean and fresh. A good selection of hot and cold options at brekkie. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Shout out to the lad who took our breakfast orders and the chef. We were a bit of a pain and went off-piste. Everything was cooked to perfection and exactly how we ordered it.
The mattresses on all the beds were like bricks. We all struggled to sleep and woke with stiff backs in the morning. The room was 'surface clean' but needed a good hoover and the grouting and shower head could have done with some mould and mildew spray.
The friendly atmosphere and the cosiness of the buildings, especially sat round the fires
There is no negative points, but I would just like to say that the path from the car park down to the pub could do with a little bit more lighting at night time
