Balong Balong Surf Bungalows & Restaurant

Front beach, very good food, comfortable rooms

I stayed for one week in this little piece of paradise, and it did not disappoint!

The property is situated on the beach, looking out to numerous surf breaks, which meant I could check the morning surf while enjoying a gorgeous smoothie bowl. It was easy to rent a bike and explore the neighbouring surf spots and towns — just be aware of the many 4x4 mining trucks that cruise around the area.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. I loved that the room had a mini fridge and complimentary water too :)

For food, you have plenty of options, either within walking distance along the beach or just a two-minute bike ride away. I ate at the accommodation every other day and enjoyed the breakfast options, smoothies, and mie goreng. Other highlights included a very cool coffee shop (I can’t remember the name) two minutes up the road and Lisa’s Garden.

Finally, I thought the staff were very helpful, positive and all spoke good English. The area and accommodation also seemed to attract a nice mix of people, from surfers to young families, who were all very friendly and up for a chat while watching the sunset.

It’s a wonderfully peaceful place, so if you want to escape the crowds and truly unwind, I would highly recommend it.

The beachfront and the hammock area. Also I liked that there is a ceiling fan in the room. Finally not only AC option but fan too.

We loved our stay at Bolong Bolong.
1. The staff is super lovely, just so helpful everytime you need something
2. It's right by the beach, we already miss having our morning coffee under a palm tree looking out at the ocean
3. The restaurant has actually the BEST food in the area, maybe in all of Sumbawa. Salmon tacos and duck ramen? Yes please!!
4. Loved that the room had a desk.

Balong balong is an amazing retreat in west sumbawa, very clean accommodation and breakfast included was amazing every day.
The staff is super friendly, and really you cannot beat the location right on the beach!

Superbe emplacement, vue à couper le souffle sur l’océan ! Magnifique endroit au bord de la plage et à proximité du spot de surf. Mention spéciale pour le restaurant, nous nous sommes régalés ! Bravo.

The location and food at Balong Balong is stunning. Sometimes places you book are average compared to the online photos but Balong Balong was the opposite. We were so impressed when we arrived and the views are breathtaking. The food at the restaurant was at the highest of standards. We tried a lot of restaurants in sumbawa but decided most nights to stay at the accommodation as the food was better!

The location was incredible, the rooms were spacious and clean, the dogs were so much fun and the staff are kind and helpful. We ate our way through the menu at the restaurant and had some of my favourite food of my holiday. Very reasonably priced for what you get.

Everything was incredible! We extended our stay 3 times because we loved it so much! Incredible views, swimming, food and the sunsets were the best. Also very cute dogs
