Nichts!!!!!
The staff are so friendly here, I felt truly welcome from the moment we pulled up to the beach.
I find this is a perfect blend of a resort structure, with a homestay feel. The dorms are lovely and overlook the water, they are small and well equipped with a comfortable mattress and fan! It’s very easy to be social at this stay and the staff could not be kinder. The activities are affordable, I did the reef shark snorkel and would say it is excellent value for money - it was amazing. Staff playing volleyball everyday and open for any guests to join. Staff are singing in the mornings and will sit with a guitar, playing away. Truly magical!
Very warm welcome from the staff and local people. Food was tasty and was a great place to switch off and relax.
Food was fantastic and lots of it. You can Snorkel right off the beach. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Bed was broken and shower leaked. So the accommodation was basic but authentic which was what we were looking for.
L emplacement. Les nombreuses activités proposées tous les jours
Chambre un peu veruste. Pas d eau chaude voir pas d eau des fois. Pas de penderie. Douche sans possibilité de poser ses affaires
Fantastic community run lodge, lovely people, great snorkelling off the beach, we'll be back!
Sehr schöne unterkumft. Sehr freundliches personal. Grosse auswahl an essen am buffet. Viele aktivitäten.
Nicht so viele möglichkeiten um sich zu sonnen am strand
the common area was very good for meeting new people and being social
We stayed at Wayalailia for three nights at the start of January, it was not long enough! The island is the most beautiful place and the beach is stunning. The moment we stepped off the boat we felt relaxed. Our favourite thing about it was the snorkeling off the beach, you can borrow snorkeling equipment and spend all day in the sea, so many fish and beautiful coral. We also went and snorkelled with sharks which was so cool. The bungalows are really cute and comfortable, we slept really well. The food is delicious and plenty of it, and they were able to cater to my partner's peanut allergy without any issues. If you are looking for a souless 5 star resort this will not be the place for you, but what makes it so amazing is the people, so friendly and welcoming we were genuinely sad to be leaving. We had two weeks in fiji this was by far our favourite place, we will defintiely make time to come back one day.
It is a little run down and rustic, but not in a way that was an issue for us. The shower was cold, not an issue with it being hot and humid weather, it was actually nice to cool down. And you only have electricity certain times of day, and very little signal. In our opinion this only added to the experience, it was really nice to switch off and relax away from modern life.
The staff are super lovely and very welcoming! Dorms were clean and comfortable, with lots of bug screens to prevent insects at night!
Sad to have had to cut my stay short due to cyclone Vaianu, however I hope to be back to enjoy the island and all it has to offer!
The electricity supply can be limited during the day, however it’s always on over night! Was never an issue for me.
I had a wonderful stay at the Waya Lailai Island Resort. From the very beginning, the experience felt unique – even the transfer from the main ferry to the smaller boats was incredibly well-organized and impressive to watch.
What really makes this place stand out is its atmosphere. The resort is run by the local village, and you can genuinely feel that sense of community. It doesn’t feel like a typical resort, but more like being welcomed into a family. The staff are warm, kind, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.
The food was a highlight – easily the best I’ve had in Fiji so far. Every meal was fresh, delicious, and prepared with care.
The vibe overall is very relaxed. It’s the perfect place to slow down: spend time at the beach, go for a hike, read in a hammock, and connect with other travelers. I met so many lovely people from all over the world – it’s a very social and friendly environment.
I did have a issue with my room initially, but I want to highlight how exceptionally well this was handled. The team responded immediately, took my concern seriously, and resolved it in such a thoughtful and professional way that it actually made my stay even better. Truly outstanding service.
If you’re looking for luxury in the classic sense, this might not be it – but if you’re after authenticity, connection, and a beautiful place to unwind, this is something really special.
If you're wanting to experience community and culture, Wayalailai Eco Haven is the place to stay! The team come from the local villages on the island and share nothing but warmth and kindness with all the visitors, greeting you personally by name every day.
It is a relatively small accommodation where you can meet all the other guests at communal meal times or on any of the many activities they offer throughout the day. This really helps with the community and personal feel of the stay.
We took part in the sunset hike, village and school visit, and snorkelling with reef sharks. They offer plenty of activities and the team are great guides, offering local insight and the opportunity to just have a chat and get to know them. A special shout out to TaiLo, Abby and Joe among the whole team who helped us on our visit!
As mentioned earlier, breakfast, lunch and dinner is communal with the other guests. The team put on a lovely homemade spread for each of the meals, and everything was delicious!
We also had the opportunity to participate in the kava ceremony, with many of the elders from the local village joining in - including the Chief! It truly felt like we were welcomed in as one of their own.
It is by no means a luxury resort, so if you don't mind a little bit of true off-the-grid island life, I one hundred percent recommend Wayalailai Eco Haven and would definitely come back!
