Pros:

The rooftop is gorgeous and dreamy
The room size is great, and it is comfortable
It is awesome having an iron in the room as standard
The staff is very friendly

Cons:

The free WiFi is very sluggish and this was a business trip
I couldn't get through to reception from my room phone. I had to use my mobile phone instead
The meals could be a slightly better standard - at the Rooftop restaurant. My medium steak was chewy

Cons:

We got food poisoning just before our trip and called the hotel the morning of our trip to request a cancellation or change of dates. They suggested it was not possible. We went through Booking.com and they were happy to give us the refund but needed the hotel to accept the refund. This trip was supposed to be in October 2025 to this day the hotel still has not responded to the request of the refund. I would not suggest this hotel because if you had an emergency or health problems they would not be empathetic to you.

We flew from Cape Town to Durban over the weekend for a concert and a few days before our trip we were told by our previous booking that they weren’t able to accommodate us due to unforeseen circumstances. I was upset but now I am so so grateful 🤣 The Skye Hotel was absolutely exceptional - we were speechless. It was so incredibly luxurious and warm. From the doormen to the front desk staff to the cleaning staff to the food and drinks staff - everyone was absolutely exceptional and so incredibly friendly. The Skye Hotel is somewhere you go where you can completely switch off. Everything being within the click of a button, literally. The room service was absolutely phenomenal - the food and drinks were brilliant and so so SO reasonably priced, I was shocked. Their cocktails are amazing, their food is amazing, absolutely no complaints. This hotel will definitely be my go to stay whenever I’m in Durban. The price for what you get is just magical. On the day we left, they even held our luggage for us so we didn’t have to carry it around with us while we did the last of our exploring. It’s situated so close to everything. Gateway mall is just around the corner, umhlanga beach, so much! Even though it’s situated so close to so much, it’s still in such a safe, quiet, peaceful area. I am so so so impressed. Absolutely nothing but good things to say about this Hotel. Brilliant- thank you! 🥰💕
