A well run establishment.
Pros:

A very fine hotel. Refurbished in recent times to a high standard. The air conditioning during a heatwave was very welcome! The staff are friendly, efficient and well organised. There is a very good restaurant serving a range of food. Caesar Salad maybe best ever eaten! The grounds are well kept. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from bustling Grasmere centre but is far enough away to be a peaceful oasis. The views of the surrounding fells are splendid. Plentiful parking.

Cons:

All very good

Welcome desk never manned. We was stood waiting to check in and check out for 30 minutes every time.
Pros:

Dining area, bar area and room was modern

Cons:

Our room was on the top floor. The bathroom was ridiculous. Tiniest shower I’ve ever seen in my life. Couldn’t even lift arms up in the shower. Very basic for what we paid. £160 for one night.
Very little drinks options
Very expensive

I got food poisoning from the restaurant. Not worth the money spent.
Pros:

The staff were lovely, good location, free parking.

Cons:

I ate in the restaurant at the hotel one of the nights, which happened to be my birthday, and ended up with food poisoning. I was apologised to and told "this has never happened before" - doesn't mean it can't happen.
No refund was offered for the meal that caused this. I was told there would be an investigation, and that the owner would be in touch as they were there that day. I have not heard from the owner regarding the "investigation".

The room was noisy, every morning I got woken up by the people in the room above due to the very noisy floorboards. You could hear everytime someone turned on a tap, flushed a toilet, had a shower. I could hear the couple in the room next to me arguing late at night. The bed wasn't an actual king size as it had two separate mattresses next to each other which meant the middle of the bed had an uncomfortable join.

No fridge in the room to keep water cold, essential especially during this heat.

The room had an infestation of moths - I was told "we are in nature". The windows in my room were never opened during my stay and somehow there were 17 moths in my room over 2 days.

Pros:

We travel frequently and stay in many different hotels in the Lake District, but we have never had the opportunity to stay somewhere as exceptional as this.
We were truly impressed by every aspect of our stay – the modern design of the hotel, the outstanding customer service, the excellent facilities, the impeccable cleanliness, and the incredible food. Every meal was beautifully presented and of the highest quality.
If it were possible to give this hotel 11 out of 10, we absolutely would. It is a truly wonderful place that exceeded all of our expectations.
We will definitely be coming back and can't wait to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Our second stay here and won’t be the last.
Pros:

Very clean, lovely grounds, nice views from restaurant and garden. (And presumably some rooms)
Great breakfasts freshly cooked near the dining area. Great position in Grasmere for everything without being on the Main Street. Various prices for rooms depending on the size and views.

Cons:

Nothing

Perfect weekend break for peace and relaxation.
Pros:

Location was beautiful. Staff very welcoming and polite. Rooms quite spacious, plenty storage, big beds with super-soft bedding. Air conditioning was amazing during the heatwave. Very powerful rainfall shower. Restaurant evening meal was delicious and breakfast lovely too. Partial lake views from lake view room and farm animals right outside our window which we enjoyed watching. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Cons:

Nothing to dislike.

Pros:

Location was good, room was lovely.
Good size, nice patio and aircon. Plus free parking which was a bonus considering the car park next door wanted £7 for two hours.

Cons:

The reception was uninviting. There are no signs to show where reception is and yet the boot room has two!! No one at the front desk, I had to physically go looking for staff each time I needed something. The room was spacious and had a fridge, but the bath is impossible to get in and out of and has nowhere to put your soap or shampoo, I had to use the bin from the toilet to balance everything on. There are no bars or assistance to get in and out and the bath is deep but very short! You also need a key card to exit the property, this was a pain and meant if one of us left the room the other couldn't get out! Terrible design.
Very poor service from the two male members of staff. Uninterested and made us feel like an inconvenience. When requesting sugar free drinks for a diabetic we were offered fruit juice or water as an alternative to Diet Coke. After a lecture about drinking Coke Zero! Not what I expect from such an expensive experience. The restaurant was a poor take on fine dining. The kitchen is open plan and run efficiently however the food choices were over priced and not what you would expect from a hotel catering for walkers and hikers. I had more substance from a bag of crisps! And the broccoli was burnt!! That was the only piece of veg on the plate unless you count the rosemary stalk that was in the middle of my lamb! We attempted breakfast which was 50 shades of egg and decided it wasn't for us! The only thing we requested was a bottle of still water and we got given a jug of tap water. More disappointment. I'm not sure why we were asked if we were celebrating anything as it made zero difference. They do not take cash in the restaurant, there is an obsession with adding everything to the room which is not always the best option. The decor is beautiful but the two members of staff are disappointing. However all other members of staff were lovely and tried to improve the situation.
