We enjoyed our stay even although the property seriously needs updating. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast
Pros:

Conveniently located for family visit

Cons:

Needs upgrading. Not enough power points for phone charging, and other electrical items such as hair straighteners. No power points by the beds. Had to unplug tv and kettle to charge our phones. Rooms feel dated. Damp smell throughout the property.

Would return again. Rooms could just do with a freshen up.
Pros:

Good location for GNR. Free parking and the price was cheap

Cons:

There was a weird smell throughout the hotel and rooms but it did go after a while. Outdated but it was fine for our stay.

guy at check in was not so helpful, rooms tired, not too clean, bar area/restaurant very tired and dirty. We were in a ground floor room, it smelled of damp/mould

Pros:

Location ideal for GNR, towels were lovely, staff were accommodating.
Room was basic, but can’t complain

A friendly hotel good location.
Pros:

The bed was comfy staff was friendly it was central for what we needed. Free parking which was good.

Cons:

The carpets needed a clean our room had a strange smell in it like mouldy stale smell so we opened the windows and it went after half an hour. Not sure if it had a lift we didn’t see one carrying cases up 3 flights.

Staff outstanding, rooms too basic
Pros:

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, I cannot fault them!

Cons:

The rooms were very basic, with no USB charge sockets and two very distanced sockets (was okay for me on my own, but a couple couldn't both charge their devices without the devices being at opposite ends of the room.
I understand surge pricing for the GNR, but £150+ was a little pricey for the facilities in the room

Robbed of our money in quite clearly a contractors hotel or a run down hotel because of it being the great north run

Booked way in advance with a baby and they put us upstairs without a lift

The bath was grimy and bedding was stained on the next room and very off colour / yellow white
