Mama's Hotel Weligama

I stayed here at the being of the year and loved it so much I came back.
Room offers everything, big double bed, Aircon, kitchenette, and a lovey shower room and the balcony has lovely views of the beach.
Very reasonable rates too.

Steps from the beach, small kitchenette makes meal prep easy, great view, safe area, steps to Domino's pizza

I recently stayed at a wonderful beachfront hotel in Weligama, and it was a good experience! The location was perfect. The hotel was clean, comfortable.

One of the highlights was the small seafood restaurant just steps away from the hotel. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. It quickly became my go-to spot for a meal during my stay. The combination of incredible seafood and the beautiful beachside setting made for a memorable dining experience.

We had a great stay,everything was perfect,we didn't have to worry about anything a the staff were so helpful and very friendly. We will definitely be returning next year.

The location is across the road to Weligama beach.
The room was spacious with a brand new small kitchen the shower room was also new and had anti-slip tiles. The view from the balcony was across the whole bay including the small religious island.
The room was cleaned everyday.
Walking up to the sound of the waves in the morning just enticed you to get into the sea other for a swim of surfing.
We initially booked the room for one night, as we’ve been bought out before. We were so impressed with it we booked it for the whole month.

The hotel manager was so helpful with the tourists trips we wanted to go on. Th Elephant National Park (you’ve got to see this while you’re here amazing) He also drove us to the turtle beach which was an hour away. The turtles came up the beach at 10pm to lay their eggs (another must).

I was talking to one of the waitresses saying I’d love a go at going out with the fishermen to catch fish and she said one of her sons was a fisherman on one of the catamarans and she’d as if I could go which I did and loved it, so landed up going out the previous week too.

We tried a few restaurants and were unimpressed with the lack of choice and quality of the food.

I told this to the hotel manager and he said they had a restaurant across the road from our hotel called “Mamas Fish Point” they have their fish bought fresh every morning and cook everything fresh to order. The food was amazing we ate there everyday going through their whole menu. If you wanted something cooked in a particular way they would accommodate it for you. Such lovely staff and everyone I spoke to who ate there had the same opinion as we did.

Great spot in the heart of Weligama! Amazing ocean views and super friendly owner and family. Stayed for one week over the holidays. Perfect for solo traveler or couple. Check out their seaside restaurant, Mama’s, for amazing food, service and sunsets!
