About the bungalow : the rooms are shabby (lights and interrupteurs not working, doors don't close, dusty old cupboards, old carpet and curtains). The bed was extremely hard. The sheets and blankets seemed clean but one can't be sure. The washroom needs some serious renovation work. The flush doesn't work. In the guest book many people have had the same complaint but nothing has been done. There were COCKROACHES roaming around the sink! At arrival there was no soap, no bath mat and no toilet paper.
The photos displayed on the booking sites of the room with bay windows have only a partial view onto the garden. You will mostly be looking at the cars parked at the entrance.
We were scandalised by the price they asked for such an unappealing setting : almost 60 euros per night. We had to cancel our second night reservation and negotiate the tarif. We have been travelling around in Kerela and this is the only time we felt horribly cheated.
About the service: The care taker is a very nice and welcoming person. He tries his best to serve you. But, he can't do much if his hierarchy is not giving him means to work correctly. He arranged for the missing items (soap, toilet paper, bath mat) as quickly as he could. But he can't do much about the desolate electric system or cheap sanitary material.
His mother cooks extremely delicious food. But there is no transparency about the tariffs.
The garden is beautifully maintained and it is the only charm of the place.
About the surroundings : The bungalow is situated in a spectacular location, right in the middle of tea plantations and forests. Just posing the camera anyhow will get you satisfying pictures.
However, if you have ecological awareness, you will soon realise that these perfect looking tea gardens are treated with pesticides. We saw the treatment : workers are not protected, neither are passerby.
The bungalow is far from even the smallest town so you are dependent on rickshaws.
