I stayed here last year, so I was a returning guest. The position of the hotel, the size of the bedroom, and the view of the sea all make it a very special stay.
This year fell way below last year.
When I arrived the bathroom was filthy dirty with faeces on the toilet seat, dirty floor, and mould on the walls in the shower cubicle. I cleaned most of it, but called reception to complain. I received no apology but they did send a cleaner up to clean it properly, albeit not the mould in the shower cubicle. I am a building manager in my job, and my feeling is the management here have lost interest in checking for themselves whether the long term dirt has been cleaned or not.
On one occasion a cleaner threw open my door long after my room had been cleaned, put a wedge in the door to hold the door open, and then immediately went somewhere else WITHOUT even checking if I was in the room or not. No apology when she came back, and she didn't believe me when I said the room had already been cleaned!! 😂 I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, and this is the first time a cleaner hasn't at least knocked first!!
One last comment: last time I went to the hotel bar there were great staff working there who were really chatty and gave first class service. It was a real pleasure to go and sit there. However, this time the atmosphere and service was very cold so I didn't go back again.
Oh, and no fridge in the room - this is an expensive hotel !!!!
