A lovely setting and great staff.
Pros:

Staff were great. Wonderful setting. Breakfast was good. Nice old feel to the hotel. Lots of character.

Cons:

The shower was the weakest ever, really bad. Get a room with a bath.

Family run hotel with fantastic view
Pros:

The location of this hotel is hard to beat. You are pretty much right on the lake, with a view over the surrounding mountains.
The gardens are lush and well kept.

Cons:

The interior is dated but even that manages to be charming. It’s like stepping into an episode of Poirot!

Pleasant, enjoyed a lot our stay !!
Pros:

Breakfast was not buffet, but ask what you like and that what you get. We already knew that from previous reviews and we did accepted that as normal. Staff was amazing and very kind trying to help us with what we needed. Hotel was making feel that you going back in time !!! We liked that!

Cons:

Cleaning was not the best as we found our bedroom cups to have tee or coffee unwashed, with coffee stuck on them dusted shelves, but do not let that put you down we enjoyed our stay decoration and space was smart for our family.

Charming lakeside and lake view hotel.
Pros:

Fabulous location on Thirlmere. Rooms were spacious. Breakfasts were exceptional. Extremely welcoming host who went out of his way to make you feel at home.

Cons:

WiFi was a bit patchy at times. Bar menu for meals was a little restricted, but there was an excellent pub within walking distance.

The most relaxing, friendly and peaceful stay Great hosts, great food and above all a great view.
Pros:

The responsiveness of the staff, fantastic view of a stunning garden and lake. Great evening meal and breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble.

Cons:

Finding the place was a wee bit of a challenge if you use the postcode, probably best no to lol. Maybe a brief description of where the turn off is (i.e. what side of the road when driving in, beyond the pub etc) Minor as we did find it at the 3rd attempt... Slightly awkward moment when we realized the twin room we booked was not the only choice. Booking site didn't show any options but the proprietor immediately rectified that with a beautiful double bed and a lake view, superb!
