Sunny Shackell - Echuca Moama Holiday Accommodation

Prefacing this by saying that we have stayed in multiple booking.com properties, in various countries. We always book to have breakfast included and this has every single time meant either a buffet or à la carte meal. I therefore paid more than $100 over the average accommodation prices for 2 days of breakfast, just to be told, by the owner after we arrived, that breakfast is the cereal in the pantry or you can use some of the bread from the freezer.
Essentially paid $100 to pour cereal into a bowl? or make toast?
I found this to be a VERY deceptive way of doing business.
Also found it unnerving that all the ‘complimentary items’ have been previously used.
The place could definitely benefit from some general maintenance w.r.t torn furniture and blinds held together with sticky tape.

Back security door was broken but land lady did fix immediately
But then said key didn’t lock front security door!!!
Unit is in housing commission location
Wasn’t aware of this when booking
Couch in property the leather was all peeling off and you could see the foam
The blind on the front window was thin and our dog only scratched it a couple of times and it ripped off really easily so I tried to repair it

★ 1/5 — The worst and most misleading accommodation I’ve ever come across.
This property is nothing like the photos or description. The place was filthy—used bedding on one side, filthy pillow slips, ripped couch, broken ceiling fans falling out of sockets, holes in the walls, dirty stove and oven trays, filthy fridge with opened milk and butter, broken outdoor furniture, and rubbish around the property. Smoke alarms falling out of sockets, filthy kitchen light full of insects, dirty walls throughout, & constant loud barking of dog over fence.
We couldn’t stay and checked out immediately.
The owner, who's attitude is reflective of the accommodation she expects you to stay in refused to refund our $300 cleaning deposit, even though we did not stay. We only got it back after escalating to Booking.com’s higher management and over 6 emails and 4 international calls.
The owner is highly deceptive. After you check in—despite the listings on multiple sites showing the full floor plan—she demands additional money for the extra room. Yes, it’s buried in the fine print, but the photos and layout are clearly misleading. She also insists that the cleaning fee be paid directly into her personal bank account well before your arrival rather than through recognised booking platforms like Booking.com, making it extremely difficult to recover your money if you need a refund.
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
As a genius member who stays in accommodation weekly with booking.com and has NEVER written a bad report or had a bed experience through their promoted accommodation, this place is a damage to their brand and the beautiful people of Echuca. (If you need a lovely location, run by a couple that is truly authentic and is dog friendly, clean and safe support the River County Inn. They were so supportive.)
This property is unsafe, unclean, and falsely represented.

The back door was broken, so we couldn’t access the backyard for our dogs without going through the front door. Broken blind, undisclosed $50 per dog fee. A $300 security bond was required for a property with visible damage, including a worn couch. Responsive but demanding owner. I was told that the dogs were not allowed on the carpet, only on the lino in the kitchen. As we didn’t feel comfortable paying the $300 bond to her personal bank account, she would not check us in.

Further from town than hoped but glad to be able to find a property over the long weekend at short notice.

Notified of $50 per dog after booking and booking is non-refundable. Stone backyard. Some broken items like door handle falling off. No storage space for clothing and cases.

The air con was only in the living room and then unit was way too hot. I couldn’t stay there it was unbearable. I had to leave early due to the conditions. I also noticed a lot of dirtiness around the place which didn’t sit well with me. In particular the curtains were disgustingly dirty it was gross and unhygienic. The price was way too high for the unit and I wouldn’t stay here again.
