Incredible, Incredible...INCREDIBLE!
Pros:

The most fabulous stay. Incredible location, very helpful staff, beautiful room, amazing restaurant.
Red bar also epic with top quality shisha. We travel maybe 8-10 times a year across Asia. This is top 3 of all time. Beautiful breeze during the whole stay. Thats an Ishigaki delight all year round I believe! We love Ishigaki so much. First visited in 2019, still quiet but perfect. Only 1hr35min flight from HKG. The beef is of course the highlight. Recommend you find a local butcher and use the rooms facilities to cook your own beef party at least one of the nights! Very rarely write reviews but I had to for this. Already planning our return!

Much better than expected, after some mediocre reviews...
Pros:

Seven x Seven
Probably thanks in part to its tucked-away setting, this turned out to be one of the most important hotels of our trip—and we stayed four nights. And what can I say: it was a total hit.
Located on Ishigaki, about 20 minutes from the airport and just a quick 5-minute drive to the harbor, it’s perfectly positioned. There’s no private beach, but that’s more than made up for by a fantastic pool area, including an adults-only lounge with an infinity pool. Depending on the season, both pools can get a bit busy—especially the infinity pool on weekends and in the afternoons, when a DJ spins relaxed lounge music. A very pleasant touch.
We stayed in a Deluxe room with partial sea views (the ocean is about 500 meters away), and by Japanese standards, it felt—really spacious. Beautifully designed, everything still brand-new. The bed, despite its initially soft feel, turned out to be pleasantly firm. The only slight letdown: the large bathroom with a window wasn’t cleaned as thoroughly as expected. It was definitely clean, but there were quite a few limescale stains on the fixtures and the shower glass—noticeable enough to surprise us. That said, everything else was spotless.
A standout feature: every room comes with its own washer-dryer combo (front-loading, and noticeably more effective). The detergent left our laundry smelling wonderfully fresh—one of those small luxuries you quickly learn to appreciate.
The concept of Seven x Seven seems to lean toward minimal interaction—online booking, QR-code check-in, that sort of thing—but in reality, there was always someone around whenever needed. And always with a smile. A special mention goes to Tsurugi at the Skybar/Red Bar (half Japanese, half Polynesian), who stood out for his proactive service and genuinely warm, easygoing manner.
But really, the friendliness extended across the entire staff—whether at the bar, in the restaurant, or at reception.
Speaking of which: the on-site restaurant is excellent.

Relaxing and comfortable.
Pros:

Room was spacious (particularly by Japan standards), beds were big. View from the room was very nice. Sauna and pool closed late.

Cons:

Breakfast was not good value for money, particularly for vegetarians (all of the hot food contained meat or fish).
