Too expensive and fell very short standard wise
Pros:

Nice decor

Cons:

Food was far too minimal from someone who has stayed all over the world
Pretentious and twee amounts which left me dissatisfied
Also bed mattress needed replacing about 10 years ago lilting to one side and tried to be rescued by a topper placed there but very poor standard.

Lovely room, absolutely perfect, evening meal was amazing!

Cons:

Breakfast was alright but nothing special. More fruit and yoghurt options would be better.

ONE FINE STAY
Pros:

This is a fantastic hotel with elegant rooms and thoughtful touches ( e.g chocolate box, Penhaligon products). Authentic, english hospitality at its best by a team of professional, friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Special mention for Hilary who works there for 32 years and still smiling and multitasking. Also thank you to Sophie for her generous gesture to give me a box of chocolates on my nameday celebration. ( is a european thing!). Perfect stay again!!!!

Cons:

Removing the newspapers from the lounge area after so many years using the environment as an excuse is daft and pointless. The environment will not be saved by a few copies of a newspaper and i do not want to read the digital version on my phone!. It is also not in keeping with the traditions of the hotel.

A little gem in Derbyshire countryside
Pros:

Absolutely fabulous place. Service, rooms, breakfast, bar area and lounge - all spot on. Made to feel very welcome, beds are comfy and super clean. Will be going back for sure. Highly recommended!

A nice hotel with excellent staff.
Pros:

Good breakfast, the location was good for accessing Chatsworth and nearby villages. Attractive building with reasonably sized comfortable air conditioned room with nice gardens and a large car park at the rear. The staff were all very attentive and helpful.

Cons:

The hotel is on a busy road so there was road noise. There was also occasional noise from a neighbouring room as the walls were thin near the doorways. I was interested in the river view/location, but the view was obstructed by poorly maintained foliage. It would have been very useful to have had a small fridge and better lighting in the room.

A quaint and charming Peak District country Inn with a wonderfully luxurious feel—we got exactly what we were hoping for! The staff were lovely and attentive, the Sunday roast was excellent, and the wine list was superb. Fabulous breakfast! A beautiful, welcoming place with plenty of character.

Cons:

Our room was at the very top of this tiny staircase (the Harry Potter room which sloped!). We were perfectly fine with it but some travellers may find this a difficulty.
