We received a message from booking site that we were reported as “no-show”. However, this was completely untrue as we booked, paid in full prior to arrival and completed our stay in full, which we confirmed the same to booking site.
Room photos on booking site are definitely more “glammed up” and staged. In reality, it is basically a simple guesthouse with less decoration and non-luxurious bedding as seen in photos. We had simple bedsheets which had little holes (needs to be replaced for a better impression) and bath towels which shedded fibres that sticks to you when used. As compared to other guesthouses and homestays in the Himachal Pradesh area, this is the most expensive we paid (2600 rupees) for a simple guesthouse of this quality and similar size. Check-in process could definitely be improved, we had a delay of about an hour despite the fact that we informed our host of expected arrival time early due to the following reasons:
1. Staff could not communicate in English and it was difficult to communicate basic requests. We had to request for basic items which should have been provided in the room upon check-in such as bath towels and coffee mugs.
2. For the first room we were given, bathroom had issues such as exposed wiring (safety hazard), toilet does not flush and toilet seat was broken. Such issues should have been checked and resolved prior to guests checking in.
We were eventually given another room after some preparation time, but for this price point, we expected basic checks conducted so that there are no issues and delay during check in process. During our stay, we also showed a bolt from the spoilt door hinge for outer door with netting which was loose and fell (maybe maintenance lacking) but it seemed that the staff didn’t understood due to language barrier and left the bolt outside at the window area. We left it as that as there was still an inner door to lock.
