Аутентичный отель, скромный завтрак из региональных, вкусных продуктов, уютная атмосфера на всей территории отеля, милый бассейн, большая парковка, рядом с которой живёт славный и ставший нам дорогим за эти дни ослик, дружелюбный персонал, всё очень чисто, есть ресторан. Великолепное местоположение, тихое уединение с природой. Сказачное местечко, чтобы отдохнуть душой, набраться сил и много положительных эмоций. Понравилось абсолютно всё, мы даже продлили наше пребывание еще на одну ночь. Спасибо Hotel Rural El Horcajo de Ronda❤️

Hotel El Horcajo, a stay in the heart and nature of Andalucia
Pros:

The room was a triple room (one big and one small bed) with terrace, it was quite big and comfy, with a small fridge, which was crucial to have in this heat! The windows had mosquito nets, which was perfect so we could open them safely without fearing bugs getting in! The bathroom was big too and the AC worked. The rest of the hotel was also beautiful, rustic and inviting to take a break and relax surrounded by nature. We could see a donkey and sometimes sheep in the field next door! The meals (we mainly stayed for a few dinners) were served in a patio outside where tables surrounded a huge tree, with cute lights hanging from the tree. We could also see the moonrise from there, so cute and romantic! We used the pool one day, it was clean and big enough for both kids and adults, but it could get crowded at "peak hours". We liked it. The breakfast was quite good, there were a few choices for each of the main items you'd find at an usual buffet breakfast, we liked it. The parking was spacious and handy. The staff was helpful and always nice, even if not everyone spoke English, but understood our rusty Spanish. They helped us book the tour for Cueva de la Pileta, since the reservation required to make a phone call in Spanish. Check-in and check-out were smooth.

Cons:

You necessarily need a car to get to the hotel. The main road to get there was mostly affected by construction work so it was not super smooth. Then to get to the hotel there is a road for the hotel only, which was like a dirt track, unpaved and a bit dangerous for non-expert drivers: lots of bends, pebbles, not lit at all, even at night. You first go up the hills, then proceed in getting down to the valley betweem the hills where the hotel is located. These roads give you the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. In fact, the closest small village is Montecorto, which is still a 10min drive from the hotel. Ronda is at 30/40min drive away from the hotel. Caminito del Rei is at least a 1.5h drive away from the hotel, at least, depending on the time of the day. Setenil is around 30/40min drive away. You'd need the car to get anywhere. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something to be aware of.
In the room we did not like the shower, as it was a bit small and some parts of it were broken (the small shower head would not stay in place but kept falling); and the shower drain smelled bad when we turned on the water. Probably something they could have resolved/done about it if we mentioned it to the staff.
Regarding the dinners, the food was decent, but do not expect anything fancy. Sometimes the portions were too small, other times too big.

Sitio privilegiado y apacible.
Pros:

El buffet era espléndido con productos de calidad. El almuerzo y cena estupendo, sobre todo la cena en el exterior bajo un gran árbol. La cama enorme y cómoda.
El personal super amable.
Gran espacio exterior para aparcar.

Cons:

Las escaleras de la piscina tenían los escalones muy estrechos y la barandilla se movía.

La cena en el exterior bajo un gran árbol es muy agradable.

Cons:

Había muchas avispas en las entradas y ventanas de las habitaciones, por lo que había que entrar y salir muy muy rápido para que no entrara ninguna. Era un comentario habitual entre las personas que estábamos alojadas allí. Es cierto que informamos de ellos y echaron producto y aparecieron unas 30 avispas muertas, pero al día siguiente volvió el problema. Supongo que es un problema con difícil solución estando en el campo.
