Comfortable and convenient for train travellers
Pros:

Comfortable bed, good view. Very close to the train station, walking distance even with luggage (although of no fault of the hotel, the streets were quite dirty). Staff were friendly and laundry service was complimentary, dried and bagged for us in the morning.

Cons:

We were woken by the smell of cigarette smoke early in the morning, despite choosing a non-smoking room. Even after shutting the window the smell persisted, we can only assume that we were directly above a smoking room. Staff were apologetic.

The hotel is a good choice if need to stay close to Kunming Railway station.
Pros:

The hotel is walking distance to Kunming Railway station and it is surrounded with good varities of local food choices. The staff is very friendly.

Cons:

The hotel is not visible from main road. Took us some time to find the location.

Good budget hotel but bring cash or WeChat pay options
Pros:

Good budget hotel near the railway station. Rooms are spacious and clean with a big TV screen. Perfect if you want to take or arrive with the train and want to take a rest. Many breakfast and dining options nearby on walking distance. This is the second time we selected this hotel as an in between stop for our travels.

Cons:

Make sure you have cash or WeChat/Alipay available to pay for your bill. With an interval of 2 months they could not accept mu credit cards (Visa and Master card) because of "no funds available". Theu can only reply with "happened to many other customers"... very inconvenient

Pros:

A great place to stay before catching the train to somewhere else. The room decor had a really nice minimalistic charm about it, and the breakfast was well priced with a lot of good choices.
