Surprisingly, let down by cleanliness of room
Pros:

Very friendly and helpful service. Location perfect. Room aesthetic quirky and has a quality feel. Great shower.

Cons:

Room looked as if it had been reset but not fully cleaned. Travelling with colleague and both our rooms had same issues. Visible dirt in bathroom sink both in and around unit. Carpets dirty and dusty at skirting boards. Stained chaise and scuffed desk/chair make the room look tired and has seen better days. Needs a deep clean and refresh.

Food poisoning and poor customer care.
Cons:

Poor hygiene
Inadequate staff training
No customer care or follow up

I had one night booked at HDV and ate in the restaurant the following day. I got food poisoning from the eating there, which made me too ill to travel home or organise anything, other than staying there again.
I was so sick, I had to take three days off work. I am self employed and it takes something big to keep me off work.

I was too poorly to stand up for any long periods so my partner spoke to the manager (Suzy), after reception had passed on to her that I’d become ill from eating there.
She was very guarded and passed our details on a third party, who still hasn’t been in touch, despite us chasing it.
“We use a third party consultant to investigate all alleged food poisoning queries” … how many do they get?!
And how impersonal that they can’t even call the room to see if they can get us anything, or follow up with a check-in call or email themselves, and would rather pass it off. Things like this happen and people don’t always get things right, but I’ve given them the chance to make it right and after 7 weeks, I’ve still had nothing from them, or their scapegoat.

What a shame that they can’t train their kitchen staff to wash their hands as thoroughly as their management does.
