I've stayed here quite a few times but this time they have really upped their game with the entertainment fun all day and night food was nice and the staff were friendly room was nice and clean
The only downside was the toilets by main reception and bar were really dirty I told a member of staff and that there was no toilet roll in most cubicles but they didn't clean or replace the toilet roll so I had to keep going to my room for the toilet
The position we had a lovley sea veiw
The bathroom the shower was far too small we had booked a room with a bath but didn't get one
Location. Beautifully sited on the pier overlooking the sea.
The room was small and old fashioned. The windows were tiny and barely opened. The fittings were dated. The bathroom was very dated. The towel rail could not be turned off despite the heat wave. We were not supplied with enough towels, and only one pillow each.
The décor in the room and throughout the whole hotel was finished to a very poor standard, with exposed plaster and pipes, holes in the walls and unfinished and peeling paint work. It was generally awful.
The bedroom had a "Premiere" badge on the front of the door but certainly did not reflect that accolade.
The long queues at breakfast were unacceptable. The drinks counters were dirty and full of uncleared spillages. The timing of 0730 to 900 was far too short, especially for a weekend. The hot food servery dishes were contaminated by over spills from other dishes, making them completely unsuitable for vegetarians. There was no orange juice! I had to ask for it.
There was a National Triathlon taking place on the Sunday of our stay, which closed every road around the hotel and made things difficult and very inconvenient. We had to park over a mile away, for example. The hotel failed to advise us of thi on booking. Had they done so, we would not have chosen those dates.
I stayed at the Grand regularly in the 1970s and 80s, during what could be said to have been be the hotel's "heyday". I was genuinely shocked and saddened by its unquestionable dilapidation, both inside and outside, although the prices do not reflect this fact.
It is clear that the current owners have no interest in restoring this hotel to anything resembling even a remotely acceptable standard, let alone to the standard which its name and illustrious past imply. I shall not be returning.
Entertainment team and the night time shows were brilliant. Staff are great, so is bingo and the games!
Rooms are appalling. Beyond bad, arguably the worst we’ve ever stayed in. Nothing grand about what was once an amazing hotel.
Food was diabolical and even the staff knew it was.
Bathrooms were shocking, tiny and not clean.
Rooms not cleaned effectively.
Sea view
Nothing
Not much - poor overall experience
The room was shabby and in need of renovation. Overpriced. The evening food was disgusting, however breakfast was passable. No secure luggage storage. Carts and carts of dirty lundry in the corridors for days on end.
Loved location, staff where amazing great place to stay
Does what it says on the tin
Scruffy
Everything
Good location and friendly staff
Very expensive for a tiny room and very dirty
The view.
Reception staff not up to there job..
Me and my two daughters loved that it had a balcony with a beautiful view 😍
That we had to cut the holiday short due to a bereavement in the family 😢
