Amazing and unforgettable experience living in an open sided house surrounded by nature in the middle of a plantation.Bhati and his family were incredible hosts and our whole 6 day experience was beyond words, Breakfast and dinner was like a Sri Lankan banquet, (also afternoon tea /biscuits) you won't go hungry,(we brought snacks but didn't touch them)a brilliant mix of various vegetable curries, chicken, fish, Dahl, roti, fruits,curd etc.. Our full day safari was outstanding,we saw so many elephants,crocs and even a sloth bear.Bhatis vast knowledge and respect and love of nature is amazing always stopping the jeep to point out birds and animals, we didn't miss a thing.Slept amazingly well,nights were cool and comfortable under the nets and listening to the chorus of wildlife was just so peaceful.Evening jeep to the lakes was unforgettable,hundreds of hornbills, fishing cats and on one night a bull elephant.Bhati is an incredible young man and does everything to make your stay magical. We feel very lucky to have been able to spend time there.10 out of 10 all round.

I can only agree fully with the many positives of other guests.

Although The accommodation is quite simple and is basically a camping in an unique setting, everything works, the beds are comfortable, with good mosquito nets, it is very clean. Breakfast and dinner are both outstanding. In the night it is totally quiet - except for the elephant that came to munch banana trees one night. The price is right for the accommodation. The price for breakfast and dinner is very fair.

The real standout however is the owner Bathyia who is an absolute gem. On our sri lanka trip we met many kind, hospitable, engaged people but I can’t imagine how a host can be more engaged, more open, more welcoming, more relaxed, more professional or more accessible than Bathiya. We did a half day safari in Yala and the evening bird safari with him and he made it our favorite day of one month travel in sri lanka.

Wonderful host, wonderful food, amazing rooms and location. Bhathi and his family went above and beyond to make sure we had an outstanding time.

An amazing experience right next to Yala National Park, in the middle of sugarcane plantations and surrounded by unique wildlife that you can spot during a jeep tour around the hotel. I received an incredibly warm welcome, and both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend it – it was one of the highlights of my trip through Sri Lanka!

Unieke en prachtige plek door de locatie, de fijne beheerder en mooie natuur! Er wordt voor je gezorgd vanaf het ophalen met de jeep en dat is gelijk genieten.

Extrême gentillesse des hôtes, excellent repas, environnement champêtre et sauvage. Beaucoup d’insectes mais bons équipements pour s’en protéger. Ambiance féerique : nous sommes endormis endormir regardant des lucioles voler dans la chambre. Super safari avec notre hôte dans le parc de Yala : pas trop de jeeps à cet endroit du parc et des animaux (nous avons notamment vu 4 léopards et des éléphants).

Dass wir auf diese Unterkunft gestoßen sind, war eher Glück und Zufall, aber es war das absolut Beste, was uns passieren konnte. Schon als Bhathi uns abholte und mit seinem Jeep durch die Zuckerrohrfelder zur Unterkunft fuhr, war uns klar, dass dies ein ganz besonderer Ort ist. Das Grundstück ist der Hammer mit einem wunderbaren Garten voller exotischer Obstbäume und einer Badestelle am Fluß. Und drum herum ist nur Natur. Für Leute, die die Natur und Tiere mögen, gibt es wirklich nichts besseres. Der Host Bhathi macht das Ganze noch besser, weil er alles über die Vögel und anderen Tiere in der Umgebung weiß und man seine Leidenschaft spürt, während er einem alles zeigt und erklärt. Allgemein kann man diese Unterkunft nicht bewerten ohne Bhathi zu erwähnen, da er sich quasi die ganze Zeit als privater Guide um einen kümmert und einem dabei Dinge zeigt, die man sonst nie zu Gesicht bekommen würde. Der Sonnenuntergang am See im Zuckerohrfeld war einer der schönsten, die wir je gesehen haben und später haben wir dort noch den unfassbaren Sternenhimmel inklusive Glühwürmchen gesehen. Außerdem bietet Bhathi eine Safari im nördlichen Teil von Yala an, wo viel weniger los ist und alle respektvoll mit der Natur umgingen. Auch hier zeigte der Host vollen Einsatz und wir haben tatsächlich einen Leoparden gesehen. Das Essen kocht seine Mutter und es ist der absolute Hammer.
Insgesamt war das einer der besten Aufenthalte, die wir je hatten und es ist ein absolutes must-do für Leute, die auf Natur stehen. Man hat verständlicher Weise weniger Luxus so weit von der Zivilisation entfernt, aber für Leute, die bereit sind, sich darauf einzulassen, ist dieses Erlebnis ein Traum.

Wir waren hier mit unseren 3 Kindern. Es war eine richtige Oase - die beste Unterkunft in unserem gesamten Sri Lanka Urlaub. Wunderschöne Aussicht/Natur, Baden im Fluss, leckeres Essen, top Betreuung, Entspannung pur. Bhathiya hat uns die Tierwelt super erklärt und all unsere Fragen beantwortet (z.B. wie man String Hoppers macht). Die 2 Nächte/Tage waren viel zu schnell vorbei - wir können jedem raten, mindestens 3 Nächte zu bleiben.

"Away from it all" location. The best home-cooked food we have had in Sri Lanka. Host who goes out-of-his-way to show you the wildlife and area.

This is not a simple accomodation, this is a unique and immersive experience into nature and Sri Lanka culture. The owner is a special person and he will host you at his best, you could feel sourranded by attention since the beginning. The place is a farm in the middle of a sugarcane plantation. You will sleep having an open window to sounds of nature and fireflys will appear over your beds. Everything is super clean and the dinner was fantastic, prepared by the host’s mum. We made a Safari at Yala gate 3 and thanks to wonderful guidance we saw 3 leopards, mangust, eagles and crocodiles We are first guest from Italy..i cannot recommend it more!!

Een prachtig verblijf in een schitterende omgeving. Wat is het er mooi en rustgevend. Bhati is een ontzettende fijne gastheer. Hij laat trots zijn omgeving zien en tijdens de safari had hij oog voor de dieren. In de avond gingen we er ook op uit met de jeep en zagen we een olifant in het suikerriet. Het eten was echt fantastisch net als het ontbijt. Veel, gevarieerd en heerlijke smaken.

Bhathiya is een uitstekende gastheer. Hij kwam ons op halen in zijn jeep vanaf de bushalte aan de grote weg. Het huisje is primitief maar bevalt heel goed. Het is schoon, voorzien van badkamer en klamboes. Voor elektriciteit gaat de generator aan. Hij neemt je ook mee in zijn tuin en mee op safari. We hebben nu geen olifanten gezien maar die lopen er wel. Wel veel vogels. Diner en ontbijt worden ook prima verzorgd. Heel veel variatie en super lekker. Als je bier wilt, moet je dat wel vragen als je opgehaald wordt. Dan koopt hij dat naast het benzinestation.

Cannot say enough good things about our stay. Barty was an amazing host for our 2 nights there. He took us on a free evening tour of the sugar cane farm and lakes which you drive thru to get to his property (a bird lovers paradise). He also took us on a full day safari tour at Yala where we saw countless birds and animals and were lucky enough to spot a leopard. His mom will feed you like a grandma. You are guaranteed not to go hungry. Barty went above and beyond our expectations for everything he did for us.

That was truly amazing time! Super clean, super super tasty food! I am really missing sri lankas curry made by Bhathiya mother! That was something special. Amazing nature around, singing birds, sounds of frogs at night.
And of course Safari. Even if we were not so lucky with weather, we still enjoyed it too

It was a fantastic experience. Our host, Bhathia, took such loving care of us. He showed us and explained the many plants in his garden. His mother is an amazing cook and spoiled us every day with a hearty breakfast and a wonderful dinner. The private safari in the nearby Yala Park was also very nice; we even saw a leopard. The house has no windows, but that wasn't a problem at all. Quite the opposite: it was lovely to hear all the animals and birds—real wildlife at day and at night. There is a mosquito net over the bed so you can sleep peacefully and not get bitten by moskitos. A small river behind the house is perfect for cooling. All in all, a very nice stay in the middle of nature with very friendly and helpful hosts. Don't expect luxury, but everything is very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back sometime.

The farm that Bathy and his family live on is a little piece of paradise. Sitting close to the entrance to Yala national park. Walking tours of the farm, local nature/sunset drives and full on safari drives in Yala are available. We saw leopards and elephants on these. The food his family cooked was the best we’ve eaten in Sri Lanka and we’ve been here for several weeks now eating in restaurants for every meal. The farm is a wonderful place to just ‘be’. Suitable for every type of traveler. We’re a family with 2 children under 8 years old snd it was so wonderful. The family were so attentive and kind and welcoming whilst also giving us space to ourselves as well. Even just on the farm there’s lots of monkeys, hornbills, parrots and bats to be seen. The night sky is also amazing with so little light pollution. There is a beautiful river running beside the property that we swam in every day to cool down. Bathy’s wildlife knowledge of his home is encyclopedic and very interesting.
