The staff were so very lovely and friendly - every single one of them. TJ spent a half an hour securing a taxi for me the following the morning which was amazing! The breakfast lady accommodated my limited diet and sent me off with a hot drink - and was very lovely too.
I like it was close to a wedding we were going too.
It was filthy in the back area towards our room. Have plugs off the walks, plasters etc. Obviously doing work. Gaps down the door which let in light.
Then bar was doing horse race bidding an races until 2am on a microphone. If I'd have know that I'd not have gone.
A young man on staff was beyond helpful
It suited all our needs for one nights accommodation
Very friendly staff, great breakfast, 2/3 beds in the triple room were comfortable
Very dated, no plug in bathroom sink, carpets need cleaning or replacing, no tea bags only coffee left in room, view from window.
Everything the staff went above and beyond
No issues
I have been staying in hotels & B&Bs for the last 50 years & have never given anywhere a 10 but I will now. This is a gem of a hotel / B&B. It's located in Lough Gowna ( on the shores of the similarly named lake ) about 20 minutes from Cavan town. My wife & I were traveling to an event outside Cavan & booked Fitzpatricks Tavern & Hotel so we could be nearby the following morning. The service was excellent from the get-go. Our bags were taken from us & up the stairs to our room ( Room 6 was quiet & roomy ). We were given directions to Cavan ...."ignore the sign post below which is facing the wrong direction"...brilliant !! We unpacked & down to the bar for an excellent scampi each which was accompanied by 3 lovely tasty salads & chips. We both wanted to see the Limerick vs Galway hurling match & wondering how this would work out as we were in Cavan which not known for its hurling. This was no problem even though the bar was packed. The lady behind the bar turned over to TG4 on the biggest screen & we were set for the next hour. We found out from a person who lives locally that this area is a big tourist spot for fishing.....lots of visitors from the UK & beyond. We retired to bed & asleep quickly. Down for the breakfast in the morning to "you'll have the full Irish" ! We noticed there were lots of jams ( raspberry/ strawberry ) but no marmalade....a must-have for the toast. We asked for some & were told they didn't have any but..... & this is what gets the hotel from a 9.5 to a 10.....one of the staff left the room & arrived back with a jar of marmalade which he bought in the nearby shop. How can you beat that ??? We checked out & packed our bags into the car in the nearby car-park & off to Cavan. We'll be back with our fishing rods next time !
Absolutely nothing !
Nice rooms, friendly staff. Would recommend
Good atmosphere, food good and reasonable priced. Breakfast was excellent and lady serving was very friendly. Toilets were spotless.
Place was busy but staff not paying attention to people waiting to be served at the bar. When it quietened down staff still not noticed people looking to get served. Young staff not very friendly. No cold water in sink in room.
