It's Decent, but could be better
Pros:

The location is nice. It's close to Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and a small beach with a playground. Food places are a short drive, and the view was good. The hotel has excellent water pressure, and the shampoo & condition are good too (not watery like other places I've stayed). The security guard was a friendly face and immediately acknowledged that I was there. Housekeeping was also friendly and did a great job in cleaning our room.

Cons:

Our bathroom didn't have a working exhaust fan, and the lights were quite dim. The balcony furniture should be cleaned regularly, as it was dusty, had bird droppings, and the lounge chair had a large hole in it. If you get a room with a balcony, be prepared to see what your neighbor is doing. The balcony walls are short and you can easily see into other guests' rooms.
I paid extra for breakfast to be included in my stay, however, I didn't receive my vouchers for the first morning. The gentleman at the front gave me the vouchers, and advised that they should've been put under our door. Yet, on the second morning, we still didn't have breakfast vouchers. 🤔
Parking is $25 per night, and all meal tickets charge a 20% gratuity, even the "included breakfast." The pictures on their site show a full breakfast buffet, but that isn't the case at all. Everything is pre-plated in the kitchen, which you order from a menu. We chose the "American breakfast" plates, and let me just say, the food is nowhere near the amount they charge for it.
Overall, the stay was decent, but for what you're being charged, it could be better. I was underwhelmed, because I was expecting to have my experience match others' reviews, and that didn't happen.

I would stay again for the location to Cruises.
Pros:

Staff and Service was wonderful. The Bellman/Shuttle driver was very helpful showing us where to have lunch, dropped us off, picked us up and took us to dinner. We felt like we were the only guests. He gave great service. Room and view was nice. Very convenient location for a Cruise. Appreciated the shuttle immensely.

Cons:

Rooms are getting very dated. No outlets near the night stand/beds for CPAP machine and to charge our phones. Very dark, needs better lighting. Toilet would not flush well. Sliding door to bathroom was very difficult to close.

Cons:

Hotel is so old, matress was sinking so much I felt coils. It wasn't just my room. My coworkers experienced the same problem. They forgot to clean my room so I had to call for clean towels at 9pm. I was gone for 13 hours and they didn't clean my room. Pay a little bit more and stay somewhere else. This is the worst DoubleTree.
