Gorgeous building, really nicely decorated and maintained and in a great central location
Staff were absolutely amazing, I had some ‘out of the ordinary’ requests and they were fulfilled without question. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Rooms own temperature control - heating was on and it wasn’t too hot, but we both like a colder room to sleep so we were a bit hot, but this is my only niggle.
Stayed in a lovely cute room (rosemary) at the back of the hotel where there is a few rooms named after herbs
Not that It was such a problem but had to keep asking for fresh milk to brew up which came in miniature flasks as there's no fridge in room
Breakfast was truly excellent. So much so we ate in the bar downstairs one night which did not dissappoint. Location could not be better - in the heart of the city but quiet.Decor was lovely and everything was very clean

I loved the old building and beautifully renovated. A very comfortable stay.
We had a room looking over the front - it was a bit noisy, but I loved the hustle and bustle of the city.
A beautiful period property in the heart of York. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to some of the suites and it couldn’t have been better.
Not really a dislike, but be aware it is a very period property, quite “vertically” oriented, and no lifts.
Also taxis won’t be able to stop directly outside.
So probably not an ideal choice if your mobility is challenged.
