Hostel Papa Tia

Con diferencia, lo mejor de este alojamiento a mi parecer es la tranquilidad. Los únicos ruidos que se escuchan es alguna moto que pasa pero, gracias a que está distante de la carretera, no resulta apenas molesto. Esta tranquilidad lo hace muy atractivo, ya que el silencio es el bien más escaso en Rantepao. La casa está situada en medio de un arrozal, con lo que le da un plus. Hay un balconcito en el primer piso que es donde se encuentran las habitaciones, y en la planta baja una agradable terraza. El desayuno es una delicia, además hay café y té a libre disposición de los clientes.

L'atenció per part de Jakob i la seva família és excepcional. L'emplaçament de Papa Tia és preciós. Hi ha una zona agradable on pots esmorzar, sopar o passar el temps.
Les habitacions i les zones comunes estan ben netes.
Al hostel mateix et poden organitzar l'itinerari per Toraja o bé llogar-té scooters.

Peaceful place. Staff really helpful with perfect English communication and you can get the best recommendations to explore around and even going with the owners to the funeral ceremonies

I definitely recommend this hostel.
It's safe. Very good and clean. Hot water. Wifi. Good reakfast included. Other food can be ordered too. Private rooms. Good price. Very comfortable.
The host is very nice. I would recommend him to be your guide. He knows what is going on in the area at the time. I've visited many places with him. I've stayed longer because I wanted to see every day of the funeral celebrations. Every day, different things happen. The funeral was 5 days. They can be even longer if it is a higher class family.
I've stayed in Papa Tia, but if it is fully booked, someone can stay in Mama Tia. It's his son's place.

When I was in a hostel in Makassar, they helped me book the bus to Rantapao. Another guide contacted me through them and offered his trips. I didn't take this offer. It would be paying someone else for what you can arrange by yourself in Rantapao with your homestay. I was happy with Jacob's (the host from Papa Tia) trips. He will advise what the options are, and people can choose what they want to visit.
Jacob also helped me to organise the bus to Poso, and he helped me with communication with my next hotel.

Great place for solo travellers and not only..I liked location and possibility to meet other travellers..At the same time you can have your privacy..
Owner is not only fun host But also super good contact to have if you are interested to explore local culture and places. Recommend!

Location excellent. Quiet and tranquil looking over the rice paddies

The rooms are comfortable and they provide tea, coofee and water for free. It is a good place to meet other travellers if you travel alone and then you can share with them your guide for the funerals which is a good saving. They offer you to go to the funerals, they will take you and they took me also to a house to see a person who was waiting of its own funeral, I think this part is unusual to see but Jacob have a lot of contacts so if you ask he can arrange it for you. They also include some visits around the region the same day of the funeral if there is time or you can pay they for a tour around region or a little bit more far away if you are interested in.

This is a fabulous homestay. The rooms are big and clean. The balcony upstairs is breeze and has wonderful views. We met a lot of interesting travellers in this home and made our stay even better. The family is wonderful and Yacobus and his son are the best guides. They know were to go and take you to interesting places. This homestay is highly recommended.
