Great price, big fridge
Pros:

Location is great. Pubs nearby aren't full of tourists. Experience real Edinburgh Scottish neighborhood.

Cons:

Shower pressure was tenuous. False fire alarm at night was annoying.

Poorly maintained, uncomfortable and at times unsafe, with a broken shower, questionable electrics,

I liked the fact that we got this booking last minute due to a cancelation of the previous booking.

Cons:

We had a really disappointing stay at Park View Rooms and, unfortunately, there were several things that made the accommodation feel poorly maintained and, at times, unsafe.

The shower was one of the biggest concerns. The shower head actually came off during our stay and, despite us reporting it and asking for it to be fixed, nothing was done. The bathroom floor was also damaged, the extractor fan did not appear to work, so the room became extremely stuffy after showering, and the hot tap ran dangerously hot.

The electrical setup was also concerning. We could not see any evidence that the electrical appliances had been PAT tested. To use the kettle, we had to physically raise it up towards the wall socket because the cable would not reach properly. The microwave was dirty and plugged into an extension lead, which did not inspire much confidence in the overall setup.

The room itself was not properly serviced during our stay. Tea and coffee were not replenished, the room was not cleaned, and used cups were left unwashed. The soap dispenser was also empty and the toilet paper provided was extremely cheap one ply.

Lighting by the bed consisted of a lamp that flickered when dimmed, and we had to wiggle the wire to get it working properly.

The location of the room itself was also disappointing. Our window was overlooked by other guests and effectively looked out onto a car park. The room honestly felt more like a converted garage than proper guest accommodation.

Overall, it felt tired, poorly maintained and not particularly comfortable. The fact that we reported the broken shower and it was still not fixed was particularly disappointing. For the price and for accommodation being offered to paying guests, we expected a much better standard.

Sadly, we would not stay here again.
