Chilled and lovely homestay
Pros:

We had a lovely stay at Rocky Mountain! Location is just great - quiet and so close to the beach. Atmosphere is very chilled. Sounds of nature and farm animals.
Owners are so nice and helpful - we arrived early in the morning, they offered us breakfast and we could use facilities while waiting. Our room was also ready for check-in earlier. Every morning pancakes and eggs are served on breakfast - with a smile ☀️
We also used laundry service and rented a scooter on site. They can help you book Ha Long trip or taxi.
There are cute dogs at the property!
Room was spacious and clean, beds very comfortable.
I loved quiet morning coffee by the pool ☕️

I’d appreciate a bedside lamp, main light is quite strong

Etwas weg vom Trubel
Pros:

Homestay war ruhig gelegen. Die Gastgeberfamilie war super freundlich.
Zimmer waren sauber und ruhig.
Besitzer vom Homestay bieten Rollerverleih direkt vor Ort an und fragen einen, ob man einen Ausflug zur Halongbucht unternehmen möchte. Da wir bereits was gebucht haben, haben wir es nicht in Anspruch genommen.

Cons:

Zum Frühstück gab es entweder Pfannkuchen oder Rührei. Für 2 Nächte war das komplett in Ordnung. Für längere Zeit wird’s wahrscheinlich fade.
Aber das ist das einzige, was man anmerken kann

A nice, peaceful homestay hosted by a friendly family.
Pros:

Homestay is located in the peaceful village in Cat Ba. Room is spacious, breakfast is good - you can choose between eggs and pancakes, coffee or tea and they also bring small fruit plate. They also provide filtered drinking water, so there is no need to buy any. Family is really nice, they rented us their motor bike at a good price.

Cons:

I really wish the room had been cleaner. The shelves in the storage units were dusty, so we had to clean them ourselves before using them. The bathroom doormat was also very dirty, but after we pointed it out, they apologized and replaced it immediately. We stayed for 12 nights, and the room was cleaned only once. Additionaly they replaced the towels once more after we asked.

Wir würden wiederkommen und haben die Ruhe und Freundlichkeit dort sehr genossen.
Pros:

Ruhige Lage in einem Dorf 8 km von Cat Ba entfernt. Sehr familiär mit Hühnern und Hunden. Wir wurden bei der Fahrradmiete und bei der Bus-Buchung nach Hanoi unterstützt und sogar zum Startpunkt des Busses gefahren.

Cons:

Die Matratze war sehr hart und mit einer Plastikunterlage versehen. Die Frühstücksauswahl machte satt, bestand aber in Spiegeleiern mit Toast oder Pfannkuchen mit Honig und Bananen. Es geb Obst und Kaffee oder Tee dazu.

Pros:

Big room, hot shower, nice and quite location
That staff is not fluent in English is no problem - a smile and a bit of gesturing and google translate do the magic. Super helpful staff!!!

Pros:

Really nice hotel, the owners do their best to help you and organize your stay. We had the possibility to check in at 8am, to do laundry and to rent a motorbike directly at the hotel.

Freundliches Personal und der Pool. In der Nähe befindet sich eine super tolle Biker Bar mit gutem Essen und Ambiente

Cons:

Leider ist das Personal selten anwesend.
Der Hund der Familie ist am Pool angekettet und bellt dort die meiste Zeit auch in der Nacht.

Pros:

Great rooms and facilities, the owners are very friendly and helpful. Fantastic value for money

Cons:

Situated a little further outside the centre than we thought but that was our fault. No issue for us but when booking be aware there are roosters on the property that start up quite early.

Amazing stay ☺️
Pros:

A wonderful stay with the friendliest host on Cat Ba! An especially great way to escape the construction in the town at the minute - replacing the sounds of digging with farm animals in very modern accommodation in a beautiful rural setting - with a couple of restaurants and bars nearby too. Be ready with Google translate, and your host will arrange everything for you - from taxis (£9 return trip to town centre) to tours. A great base to explore from!

Nice and well-equipped stay, but poor communication and lack of hospitality were a letdown.
Pros:

The accommodation was nice, and spacious — one of the better places we stayed at in Vietnam. The room had everything we needed, including a large balcony and even a window in the bathroom, which is quite rare. The shower was comfortable, and overall the place felt well-maintained. Breakfast was quick and offered a selection of around six local dishes. There was also a nice pool, although we didn’t have time to use it. From the outside and inside, the place looked pleasant, despite a few small details. It was relatively quiet, except for animals like geese and roosters.

Cons:

The staff didn’t speak English at all, which made communication difficult. We asked the owner to rent a scooter for a few hours to explore the island, but he refused to rent it for less than a full day at full price — even though he had several scooters available. We ended up renting one elsewhere. It was disappointing that as guests, we didn’t feel welcome or understood. Only one young woman was very kind, though she also didn’t speak English. The view from the balcony looked directly into a neighbor’s house and garden, which wasn’t very pleasant.

the hotel is supposed to be in a quiet area, which it is, however it's surrounded by farms where you hear the chicken, dogs etc
for breakfast there are "only" two options: pancakes or eggs
